Downings did indeed get back to winning ways yesterday but it was more than a narrow victory. They attacked very well in the first half with the wind but kicked a lot of wides and dropped a few into the keepers hands. Second half they attacked with even more effect into the wind. Good all round team performance and a lot of hard yards covered from what I saw. Eric Roberts was very good-back to his best.

Good win for Milford too,Leaves the top of the table very close. Chippy Barret had a very good game. Only three teams in it for me - Milford, Downings and Moville with the two remaining Milford v Downings ties the most important. Any thoughts?

Chembel i would have to agree with you about the importance of the remaining 2 downings and milford games. I think a lot could depend on how milford do in the championship final this weekend and the loss of chris bradley for milford could have a massive impact on the outcome of the game. Milford will need the rest of their forwards to step up to the mark against a strong moville side.

Could be a good final at the weekend with maybe only a kick of the ball in it. Any predictions on the outcome?

definitely will only be a kick between the two teams. previous reuslts saw Milford get beat up in Moville, while they won at home. Chippy Barrett is showing what an exceptional player he is, at 17 scoring 1-9 at the weekend. Def a cert for the Donegal minor team next year.

The league will be very tight and it's really between Milford, Moville and Downing with Moville in the driving seat. Could be an exciting few weeks ahead!

Big win for the gaels yesterday in the "local derby" over Eunans. Badly needed win for gaels. Is it the first victory in two seasons???. Roll on next season for both teams...

gaels were lucky. eunans were better everywhere apart from gaels midfielder mulpeter and their full back line and keeper who kept them in it. half backs and half forwards for the gaels done nothing but give stupid kick passes away and we failed to capitalise due to some good defending by the full backs. could have went either way.

What about the reserve game? There was a few lads who should have been playing for eunans junior A's from that team.

Re: Downings v Naomh Ultan - Both the reserve and senior games were called off because Namoh Ultan couldn't field for either game. Do Downings get the points in that situation does anyone know? Bad show when a club can't field for at least one game.

naomh ultan could'nt field in either the reserve r senior game- that is some joke. considering they could field against st.eunans on tue evening.

maybe the fact that they would'nt of beat downings was the reason they did'nt show...

inishman - don't believe everything you hear. if you wern't at the game how can you comment. I was and fair play to the gaels for winning their first league game but i was only saying that only for the full backs and midfield it would have been a different result. gaels gave the ball back to us far too easily

The gaels are the worst team in donegal. they are blow in's. they were hammered by by division 4 reserve in the first game. then the second game eunans lost narrowly but eunans but at the end of the day more than half of the eunans team played both games and fatigue came into play in the last ten.

Gaels have nothing to be proud off winning that leagus game against eunans on saturday eunans gave them a good game and at the end of the day thats the gaels senior team playing eunans junior a team like hello!! by the way eunans reserve hammered the gaels in the first match and most of eunans boys played two matches.

Buntyb :- Without doubt fatigue would have come into play in the second game against the gaels. But give credit where its due, gaels managed to field almost two different teams on saturday,( with only 2-3 players involved in both games ) and therefore their senior team was going to be much fresher. Maybe Eunans don't have the players to field 4 teams, particularly as the season closes in????.
As with Eunans 4th team hammering gaels reserves i wouldn't read too much into that. The reserve team of the gaels has taken a back seat this season, with emphasis on the senior team, and Eunans 4th team is very strong and fair play to them they have managed to hold on to some of their most important players
( unlike Eunans 3rd team, who have seemed to have lost some to Eunans senior teams ).

Most of the fourth team played? I think there was 4 or 5 at the most. Eunans two best forwards from the first game didnt play the second game, think they had sense coz its ridiculous being asked to play two games. Still the gaels deserve credit for theyre win, doesnt matter what the circumstances were, a win is a win. Eunans 4th team does look strong, some good talent seems strange why some of them are not playing at a higher level as they are more than capable.

Well they had 35 players on the senior panel the last night, so no real excuses for not being able to field four teams. i'm sure the likes of Conal McGinley and Ciaran Greaney would have played for the juniors instead of sitting on the bench for the juniors

was at the newtown, red hughs game on sat newtown played well although hit 19 or more wides. never heard a bigger bit of crying than the red hughs management did. well done to moville yesterday hard luck milford

Newtown may well have had 19 wides thats true, but they were in total control of the game without 6-7 first team regulars the lads that played were hungry enough ta get the win. 17 points in one season for newtown!!!!! unheard for many years down here, its down to a great manager and a good mix of youth and older players that have worked very hard this season.

Gaels take note it only takes one season to turn a club around with the correct people and attuide
