What a boring site it would be if comparison was not allowed.

For example, is Joe Canning a great Hurler? Yes, no, no, yes and no mention of DJ or Jimmy Doyle, or Jimmy Langton.

So unless we look at other full backs we don't know if Francie is any good or not. What are we going to compare him against?

I think that depends on how well he is playing. I can't tell if he is playing better than other Armagh defenders unless I draw comparisons.

It might be a good move for him all the same... I wouldnt like to see him getting beaten by some young fella purely because his best days are behind him. Especially when at his peak he would have eaten the same fella for breakfast... I love seeing him play because it shows that being super fit etc is not the only way to play football.

I agree patrique but no need to compare him to Darren Fay

I thought he would have packed in after the run-around he received in the last 15 minutes against Wexford last August. He had payed reasonably well up to that but his marker scored 1 - 3 in the last 12 minutes. The Francie of old wouldn't let that happen.

Yellabelly,

He certainly didnt let it happen in 2005 when Armagh hammered Wexford that day.

Thanks for that contribution, walkman. I dont know what 2005 has to do with this thread. I dont remember anyone suggesting that he should retire in 2005 ??
