Gourley is the man behind the success. Great man .

He must be a fair age now, about 50, allowing to build the lads up to the first win in 1991.

I think perhaps the credit should go to the players. Would Gourley win the MacRory with St Malachy's College?

Dellboy,

I suspect I could manage Tyrone to a few all Ireland's given the resources available. I keep saying, the mark of a good coach is what he gets from the resources he has available, like say Martin McHugh who probably has the best claim to be Ulster's best manager in the last 25 years.

I also keep saying that managers get too much credit.

PATRIQUE If tyrone had not mickey harte they would be still waiting for there first sam . So managers deserve credit alot of it .

I suspect if they had employed Micko, or John Maughan or O'mahoney or Ryan or Kernan or McHugh or................

No, I think the time was right for them with any decent manager. Harte is a very good manager, but the resources were there.

I was at the match yesterday and I thought that it was a fantastic game of football, some great scores, some great fielding, some great solo runs and fantastic skill displayed throughout. Not only that but it was a great day and the game was very exciting and had the crowd on the edge of the seats throughtout.

Congratulations to the Academy on a great victory and fantastic achievement retaining the McCrory, hope yous can go on now and retain the Hogan as well. Also it was great to see two Tyrone teams there, when I was at school the Tyrone teams were the whipping boys and rarely got to the final

Bring an ex CBS man I was disapointed that they couldnt snatch a draw at the end and they probably would have if they had kept their heads and took their points, however they can still hold their heads high becasue they put up a great show. There was some great individual performances on both sides most notably young Harte and McKenna. However the real victor in my opinion was football and in particualr Tyrone football the future still looks bright...

A huge well done to the Academy for their marvellous success on St Patricks Day. Its great to see them being fit to put two titles back to back.

For all those crediting this success to Ciaran Gourley, i'd just like to point out that Peter Herron is the real man behind the Academy's achievements. Wee Pete as he's affectionately known by pupils and Academy old boys, was the man along with Martin O'Farrell (RIP) to bring the first McRory title to Dungannon in 1991. He has been involved with every other McRory winning Academy team having coached the likes of Brian Mc Guigan, Paul Mc Gurk, Ciaran Gourley, Raymond Mulgrew, Damien Mc Caul, and now the likes of Niall Mc Kenna and Gavin Teague. Without Peter Herron and Martin O'Farrell, St Pat's Academy wouldnt be anywhere near as successful as they have been in this past 20 years.

Dellboy as an ex-Academy player I assure you Herron is the key man. Not to play down what Gourley has done however

I think Gourley would win the MacCrory with St. Malalchy's after a few years as the school has massive sporting potenial and have all boys with over 1,100 attending so there is no shortage of players. They just need a person in the PE office dedicated to football who would get everyone playing and committed.
