I blame the GPA for all these problems, I dont know what I'm basing that on but it's my opinion...so there!

Dellboy, do not be a referee, you are too naive and dogmatic. Having refereed for years that is my professional advice. Have you ever heard of a "controversial" decision in the GAA? Like Tyrone's "equalising" point in 1995? As a ref I would have allowed it, the man doing the game didn't. Donegal, Champions in 1992, beat Cavan with a late goal in the first round. I would have given a square ball, the man in charge didn't. I would have sent Ricey off for assaulting Galvin, you would have sent Galvin off instead. In short refs have different interpretations. Mugsy's goal? Shows the ball, threw it up and caught it, and took too many steps. That's three fouls I would have given. The man in charge didn't. Great goal mind you, nearly as good as some of mine.

THE goal should never have stood,to show it again again is wrong, It should have been free out ,that was the real score that denied kerry there 3 in a row Result Pages: 1 2 3

The rules would not have allowed me to send of galvin as you can only book them for first offence . And i will be a ref no matter what you or anyone says and i will go by the rules and try and let the game go .

Dellboy, please, do yourself a favour.

The ref in 1995 was sticking to the rules. BUT WAS HE RIGHT?

That is why this thread is called "CONTROVERSY in the GAA"

The Ulster Final of 1997 when a blind umpire gave us a point for a shot which was clearly wide against Derry and we won by a point. Ever since that i always contribute to the annual "Blind Umpire" collection whenever i see them around cavan !!

It happened in a county final in 1945 (i think) in a football match in Wexford Park between Volunteers and Black & Whites,Volunteers backline & goalie climbed up onto the crossbar and saved it !

Was it drowning or what
