Fittest player in the GAA

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

Which player in your opinion covers the most ground during a match. There are some players who seem to able to keep running forever like those Duracell battery bunnies. I know alot of this sometimes has to do with positions on the pitch but even some wing-backs can be seen making there way to the 21 yard line and fullbacks to mid-field and even at times popping up for a score at the other end after a neat little one-two.

That has to be the easiest question to answer. Brian Dooher has to be one of the fittest player in the history of the GAA. The effort from him is incredible. He is always helping out the backs carrying the ball out of defence and creating attacks. He is also good for a few influential scores like the one against kerry when he ran down the cusack stand wing took two shoulders and poped da ball over the bar.

Brian Dooher is an amazing athlete but fittest in the history of the Gaa?No chance! The O'Se's are all amazingly fit thats why they are such good markers...Also this may seem biased but Graham Geraghty also has amazing fitness levels...Could run all day...!

people might say i am biased but i think brian dooher has to be the fittest as well the engine he has is unreal never stops running from the first to last whistle.

also your meath man that mention GG - i rem hearing that hewas asked over to train with arsenal at a time and they said for him to do half the laps the pros were doing one on one off set up . he was fitter that all the full time pros at arsenal!

shane ryan would alos be antoher in the dooher mould although dooher would edge it for his ball skills

paddym123 your way off the mark lad, arsene wenger was not in charge and patrick viera was not at arsenal when geraghty was over there..they did not arrive until 1996,i think geraghty was there in 1993.geraghty was a fit man but he was up against the likes of tony adams, paul dickov and paul merson that time, all of whom were not quite as professional as they should have been if you get my drift

Dooher , Declan O'Sullivan and Philip Jordan are the one who stick out as being the fittest , to my mind anyway.

Brian Dooher is the fittest that springs to mind anyway. Probably because he is such a good footballer it makes it easier for us to remember him most. im sure there are more but definetly he is the one that springs to mind. And in relation to the question is he the fittest ever or just since 2003 id say ever because footballers nowadays are so much more conditioned and fitter than they were even 10 years ago.

I think you'll find "The Hoover" has been on the go at senior in county level since the mid 90s, having played in the 1995 all ireland final
