belturbets recent form has to be both acknowledged and praised.. they are showing great heart in recent performances.. but one to has to feel that the league is their only realistic hope of silverware this year.. it would seem inevitable that they are going to face an early exit from the championship this year as they face the giants from west cavan in the first round...

D-DUDE......Take the blinkers off THE GAELS love them or hate them have been the most outstanding team in the county both senior and minor this past 10 years..... their record speaks for itself.... no questions asked,,,, check the facts... count the titles in minor and senior ... END OF DISCUSSION...... UP TO EVERY CLUB TO GET TO THEIR STANDARD ... THEIR LEVEL...... THATS THE BIGGEST PROBLEM IN CAVAN FOR THE LAST 30 YEARS... TOO MUCH JEALOUSY ..... THEY ARE THE BEST CLUB IN THE COUNTY.... LIKE IT OR LUMP IT.........................ITS FACT..........................

Gingerninja1. read richie's comment again. he did not claim the Gaels were the best team in cavan over the last 30 years. he said 10 years. the 30 years referred to a seperate point.

Now now Richie I never said they Gaels weren't the best team in the county, I have the upmost respect for them and do not begrudge them, they are a very good footballing side and I very much enjoy watching them play against the other more footballing teams in the county, but u have to admit the population in Cavan town in comparision to rest of the county is much larger and they do have a gr8 pick. But they have disappointed us when representing us in Ulster. Im sure they have some very good footballers and whilst winning all around them in Cavan they can't rise a gallop in Ulster its just goes to show how low the standard of football is in Cavan!!

D -DUDE..Whats the population got to do with it?? If it was a bout that well Baileborough, Kingscourt. Cootehill, would be better than they are then wouldnt they?? Most of theese gaels lads came up from U-14 ..U-16.. THROUGH TO SENIOR..Is about underage structures not about size of population...Take Laragh for example... In the 70s n early 8os they dominated minor football thus went on to win numerous senior championships.... same with Kingscourt...How do clubs expect to win at county senior level when they have no successfull minor team coming through?? AND FOR YOU OR ANYBODY TO MAKE A COMPASRION BETWEEN BALLINAGH AND THE GAELS IS MOST UNFAIR TO BALLINAGH..Those hard working officials in Ballinagh know the level their at..... And is short of the gaels standard at both minor and senior level...Yes the gaels havent produced the goods in Ulster... but then again no cavan senior club has...As ive said in previous threads the standard of football in the county is poor and the county underage structure and coaching needs sorting...In the meantime the gaels ARE the best club in the county... And will continue to be until clubs decide to copy them rather than critise them....Just like the gaels decide to copy Laragh all those years ago..... And any gaels official will admit that....If you dont look after and nourish the underage teams well there wont be Senior teams.... AND THAT GOES FOR CLUB AND COUNTY

Population has everything to with it, referring to the bygone days although the gaels have obviously a good structure in place and well done to them now richie i don't and start telling me wots right and wrong we all know the standard is bad in Cavan and ur a bit of a know it all in my opinion, I NEVER SAID CAVAN GAELS WEREN'T THE BEST TEAM IN CAVAM, BUT i do have the admit the football scene in Cavan is a complete shmables run by complete amatuers.!!

I think Crosserlough will beat Cuchulains. If Lavey Lose the fight is on.Lackens good spell may prove to be a purple patch.

Killygarry were hammered by Crosserlough last night. Ok they were missing Donal Thomas and Stephen McGovern who would have been definite starters but Crosserlough were missing Johnny Crowe and Declan Gaffney who has supposedly retired at 29. Only for a late goal Killygarry would have been beaten by 10 points. Very disappointing to see a young team who got to the last 4 in the championship in 2008 being destroyed by a team that started with 44 year old Philip Smith marking Martin Reilly at Centre back.

very poor performance from killygarry last nite by all accounts. I think they were also missing the two Gallen bro's and fergal clarke from last yr. Ray Galligan is also out injured and only came on as a late sub last nite. Thats 6 from last yrs starters in the semi-final, too many to take from any team and expect to challenge for honours this year. Good to see the the Lough get back on track though, they dont deserve to be involved in a relegation dog-fight............

madforsam it wasnt right the abuse a certain lacken player and to take from a member of the castlerahen club. The game was delayed of 15mins for you's. ye taught it would be a walk in the park for ye. Ye didnt expect to be beaten, take your beaten and get on with it.

From a neutral point of view of somebody who attended the match, I think an issue that should be clarified here re: lacken vs. castlerahan yesterday evening is that the player in question, which ladyluk refers to, did not have their name taken throughout the course of the 60 minutes, despite the fact that that individual had committed at least three yellow card offences on castlerahan players - one offence resulting in the forced substitution of a castlerahan player five minutes into the game. The referee was decidedly poor in controlling the game and seemed to be very hesitant to even book players, never mind produce a yellow or red card. Had the referee been more authoritive in his approach to discipline, the ugly scene after the final whistle was blown could have been avoided.
