Is it true that in the East Championship Naomh Brid have given Oola a walkover, thus eliminating Mulcair Gaels from the competition and allowing Oola and Naomg Brid to face off in the final....? claghaun1982 (Limerick) - Posts: 90 - 30/03/2009 11:19:27 243125 Link 0 |
dream team??????? are you serious. Its ballybricken and kilteely dromkeen. neither club could field a team on their own. for them getting to a A east final is a massive achievment. Knowing the lads over the team I can't believe there was anything underhanded in them getting to the final dingo1 (Limerick) - Posts: 281 - 30/03/2009 11:59:25 243179 Link 0 |
If this is true, then it reflects very poorly on the two clubs involved. But I suppose we should not be surprised by this sort of behaviour. The u-21 championships have become a joke in recent years. Very few clubs can be bothered to field teams on their own anymore. Some people say it's all got to do with demographics and that the late eighties were a time of low birth rates nationally. I think that clubs just aren't making the effort anymore and in the long term they'll loose out. Everyone knows about the high player drop out rate from under 16 and minor to the adult grades but the under 21 grade helps to bridge that gap. The clubs who are taking the easy option now in the pursuit of short term success will gain little in the long term. The net result will be another generation lost to Limerick GAA. In four or five years time we'll see many clubs who cannot field teams anymore and the seeds of this impending downfall are being sown right now. cove (None) - Posts: 683 - 31/03/2009 08:55:44 244186 Link 0 |
Naomh brid are a joke of an amalgamation. Kilteely/Dromkeen and Ballybricken/Bohermor, they aren't even neighbouring clubs. pullhaard (Limerick) - Posts: 195 - 31/03/2009 10:18:04 244237 Link 0 |
i've heard its true. The respective A and B finals are being played this weekend. Oola V Naomh Brid in the A Mulcair V Pallas in the B i feel sick to my stomach that this blatant duplicity has occurred. I implore Mr. Lenihan to wake up and smell the roses!!! claghaun1982 (Limerick) - Posts: 90 - 31/03/2009 15:35:21 244521 Link 0 |
For the attention of Claughaun1982, it seems you were right all along. The dream team of Mulcair Gaels has swept all before it. Despite not being good enough to make the East A final, the combined selection of the super junior clubs that are Milford and Ahane hammered Pallasgreen on Saturday by a huge score. Mulcair Gaels scored a massive NINE points and conceded a paltry amount of just SEVEN points. cove (None) - Posts: 683 - 06/04/2009 08:27:54 249075 Link 0 |

What does that say about football in Monaleen? To concede 4-19 in championship hurling would be a huge hiding but this is football. Is Castletroy destined to be lost to rugby and soccer forever? Will anyone in the Monaleen club stand up and say enough is enough? cove (None) - Posts: 683 - 06/04/2009 15:34:52 249605 Link 0 |
Lads, Mulcair Gaels ran out winners on Saturday against Pallasgreen 9 points to 7. However, the scoreline doesnt display the circumstances via which Mulcair won the trophy.... An aunt of one of the Pallasgreen players died on Thursday morning... Pallasgreen asked for the game to be put back one day (to the Sunday), so as to facilitate their players to attend the funeral on saturday and pay their respects to their teammate. The request was refused this request and Mulcair Gaels insisted that the game be played on schedule. The pallasgreen players attended the funeral on saturday afternoon and the burial afterwards. They then rushed to Murroe field to play the game. I have been told that upon arrival they were berated for their lateness and were given five minutes to get on the field or else the ref was awarding victory to mulcair. Some players were quite upset after the funeral and felt completely unable to play a match, which had paled in significance in comparison with the death of their friends aunt. Under difficult circumstances Pallas fielded fourteen men, against a super club containing two senior inter county stars. However the extra man eventually payed off and Mulcair ran out winners, although perhaps not "worthy winners" Pallas gave absolutely everything i've been told, and really stuck it to the dream team, ,who by the admission of their own manager upon accepting the trophy, played extremely poor. So, 'Cove', congatulations on Mulcair's victory, but more significantly, well done on the sympathy Mulcair gave to Pallsgreen's player and his deceased relative. In the city B semi final yesterday, my beloved claghaun togged off against our rivals Na Piarsaigh. We lost a hotly contested match 4-11 to 2-07. I must admit i was deeply saddened by the scenes that marred the match. Ten minutes from time, our full forward, a lad i know well and who lives but a stones throw away from me, let his anger overcome him and he threw a thumps at the Na Piarsaigh Full back. Third parties had to intervene and our own players began fighting amongst each other, with the instigator leaving the field amid a cloud of shame. On behalf of him and my club, i would like to take this opportunity to apologise to everyone involved in the game. Violence should never become a part of our treasured sport. Na Piarsaigh now face Mulcair Gaels on Thursday in the County Quarter Final, and i wish both clubs the best of luck in that game. claghaun1982 (Limerick) - Posts: 90 - 06/04/2009 16:16:07 249679 Link 0 |
Claughaun1982 - are you for real? It seems you know more about what goes on in the East Championship than in your own club and in the city division. I would have to question your credentials - by the way learn how to spell "Claughaun" - if that's where you really are from my friend??? Maybe you will stop talking about the U21 B now that Claughaun is out of the football championship. GreenFullBack (Limerick) - Posts: 48 - 07/04/2009 15:21:47 250918 Link 0 |
I think this guy is nothing but a wind-up merchant and if so you have a damn cheek to purport to speak for Claughaun. The Grinder (Limerick) - Posts: 21 - 07/04/2009 20:17:54 251270 Link 0 |
I suspect claghaun1982 may reside in Rhebogue! I wonder where he or she is hiding? cove (None) - Posts: 683 - 08/04/2009 08:10:57 251613 Link 0 |

Re: Grinder. If you were indeed at the match on Sunday, then you will certainly have seen our full forward throw three digs into the face of the Na Piarsaigh full back. consequently the Na Piarsagih goalkeeper jumped in between the two of them to protect his teammate. Our midfielder then intervened and tussled with our full forward. No doubt you'll have heard him shout "take off that jersey and **** off out of it, get off the ******* pitch you're a disgrace to the crest" Before leaving the field the full forward continued to verbally threaten the full back and goalkeeper. No my friend, if you dont believe the above events were "violent" or "shameful" then you must be seriosuly deluded. I'm a claughaun man through and through, born and bred in the heart of the parish, but even i can remain objective when it comes to incidents such as the one which occured this past sunday evening. Re: Cove, you seem to have a chronic vendetta against me on this website, i dare say you'd better off staying of the internet and getting back onto the football field and trying to improve your own clubs fortunes, rather than berating the fortunes of other clubs. Senior clubs i might add. get down off your high horse boy. claghaun1982 (Limerick) - Posts: 90 - 08/04/2009 11:31:03 251769 Link 0 |

Re - Claughaun1982 - I rest my case. You seem to thrive on the misfortune of your "stated" beloved club. Come out from behind the "incorrect" spelling of Claughaun and tell us who you really are. You say you were born and bred in the parish. You might be right but the last time I looked there were two GAA clubs in the St Patricks / St Brigids parish and you definitely do not have the "Hoops" interests at heart. Are you from the Rhebogue area by any chance??? GreenFullBack (Limerick) - Posts: 48 - 08/04/2009 13:39:11 251956 Link 0 |
