Judging by your posts here Dellboy I am sure you are going to make a great referee. You seem to have all the attributes. I wouldn't be surprised if you hit the headlines with your performances. You know all the answers to everything. Dubinmeath (Dublin) - Posts: 1123 - 25/02/2009 17:45:23 218217 Link 0 |
Dellboy, you comments here are ridiculous. The 2 lads havent played for Aghaloo for a few years. What right do Aghaloo have of not granting them a transfer. If they havent been a member or played for the club for more than a year then they should be allowed to move but the dinosaur rules and Aghaloos stubborness just to annoy the 2 lads are not allowing them. Its not as if Dungannon are a large successful club and that they are going there glory hunting. You obviously never played football and are one of these bureaucratic know it alls. Always the last word Dellboy. Some day I may agree with even one argument you make on even one thread. But I doubt it. Dubinmeath (Dublin) - Posts: 1123 - 25/02/2009 22:22:40 218489 Link 0 |

Nah Pomeroy - maybe at first. But then it becomes really irritating. Like when your in the living room in the summer and there's a fly buzzing around the room and you can't see it. Same noise all the time, irritating and serving no real purpose. Dubinmeath (Dublin) - Posts: 1123 - 25/02/2009 23:40:43 218610 Link 0 |
Not mentioning names of players or clubs but there was a similar case in Donegal about 10 or 15 years ago. A young fella was from a small village and played underage football for the local village team whose adult team was Junior. He went to school in the neighbouring town, was a class footballer, and when he was 18/19 transferred to the team in the neighbouring town who had an adult Senior team. He went on to win 3 or 4 Senior County titles and play for Donegal. He became a household name. He wouldn't have achieved this with the Junior team, but with him the Junior team might have won a Junior championship and brought some more players along down the line. Success begets Success. As it stands, the team he left are playing 13 a side most weekends in the lower divisions because they don't have the numbers while the team he joined could put out 2 teams at every under-age grade and 3 or 4 at senior. I'm not sure if this small village/big town applies between Aghaloo and Dungannon but i think that if a team trained and coached these boys at underage then they should get the rewards from those players at adult level. I'm not trying to make it sound like the club should treat the players like pieces of meat, but maybe they're worried about setting a precedent for players in the next 3 or 4 years. I can understand about freedom of movement and the like, but as a coach to underage players i would fight it tooth and nail if any of the players i train wanted to join a neighbouring club for the simple reason that if the neighbouring club wants success, then let them train their own players to success like my club is trying to do. donegal_insider (Donegal) - Posts: 584 - 26/02/2009 04:10:12 218655 Link 0 |
ehh dellboy i think i do know what i am on about seeing as i am close to the mc killion family. god you are such a narrow minded poster. all you do is copy and paste what other people have said and then givea BS reply to what they have said. its fair to say that you actualy DONT know what your talking about and you are just digging yourself a bigger hole each time you post on this topic. do us all a favor and refrain from posting on topics you know nothing about! donegal insider- this situation is totally different, the two clubs are playing junior football at the moment, the two clubs are struggling to get numbers, aghaloo due to them being a rural club or whatever, and dungannon probley due to distractions around the town such as soccer, rugby DRINK, and also there is a number of clubs surrounding dungannon that people from dungannon play for such as donghmore edendork, killyman etc. so its not as if the lads are going to dungannon to glory hunt! to be quite honest the story in the independent doest even give the whole ins and outs of the story. Dellboy the youngest was 11. Its not as if Aghaloo put loads into him. Is there not a rule that if you are away from a club from 2 years your registration lapses and you can leave. Aghaloo should give it up. By the way Thomas Clarke, who have Donaghmore ever snatched off the clarkes, there in one in the senior team who has always lived in Dungannon but has played with Donaghmore since his first underage teams. A couple of boys may now live in and around the town now after moving but none have transferred as I remember or been taken away from you. gottabetrue (Tyrone) - Posts: 300 - 26/02/2009 11:42:58 218840 Link 0 |
Clubs must not become Evertons of this world by training up good youngsters and then lose them to bigger clubs within the county. This is happening in Co Leitrim at underage level big time where the influence of the Premiership is rife, The kids thinks it is the norm to jump ship to bigger guns or when they dont get playing. It also happens in Co Cavan. The bigger picture is transferring to play for a better county, which if it is not nipped at club level will happen; God bless the likes of Declan Browne and Leighton Glynn and Paul Barden who have stayed with their clubs and counties with the outlook of very little success. Doesnt make them lesser in the eyes of true Gaels bananapublican (Leitrim) - Posts: 878 - 26/02/2009 12:07:22 218864 Link 0 |
If anyone is going to comment on this thread please do so without lazy generalisations. This is a very specific case and has nothing to do with training up kids and them then jumping ship. It has nothing to do with the Premiership???? It has nothing to do with kids leaving if they don't get a game. Dubinmeath (Dublin) - Posts: 1123 - 26/02/2009 12:52:05 218931 Link 0 |

Let the lads play for the club which they want to, There is no point in Aghaloo dragging this situation out they are only keeping two footballers out of the game, This is disgraceful. Jim_Howard (Mayo) - Posts: 44 - 26/02/2009 13:55:59 218996 Link 0 |
in my opinion aghaloo are really making a bad name for themselves by keeping these two talented lads out of football. their only kids let them go Garfield (Dublin) - Posts: 55 - 26/02/2009 14:39:39 219060 Link 0 |
