208832 Yet more guff from Real Louth Fan, I was at all the Tyrone championship games last summer and I tell you them players are far from sporting. You started this thread giving out about the unsportsmanship of Kerry yet you fail to mention anything of what Tyrone do. I suppose it was okay for Gormley to throw Mortimer into the net after he scored a goal last year or it's okay for Ricey to spend every minute of every game mouthing in players ears. What about Dooher getting the 2 Westmeath lads sent off or the famous McConville incident where Dooher and Gormley used nonsense rumours to wind him up. Tyrone have done nothing for sportsmanship or promotion of Gaelic games. At times they play fantastic football but the behaviour of the players off the ball is despicable and it's for that reason that the likes of Jack O Connor react the way they do. I'll even give you an example of a game that you might have been at cos it's doubtful you'd be at a Tyrone game but when tyrone played Louth in Navan the supporters that day were despicable from the way they spoke about players to the stuff they said about some Louth women and children cheering on their County. So before you come on slagging off Kerry for unsportsmanship at least provide an unbiased view and show us that Tyrone are 10 times worse than any other County.
Oh and here's another titbit for you, you are aware that a certain person who has played for Tyrone used to dig dirt on whoever he was marking just to use to wind him up during the game. A real bunch of sporting lads them Tyrone lads

Like i said bit rich coming from a meath man gg mean anything to you or is it your a wind up merchent as well . And talking about fans throwing cups of teas over players .....

Yes, very early days. But on a good note for us I think its the first time we've won in Omagh in the last 5 matches (10 years).

Impressed with ye're comeback all the same.

Wow some people have a little carried away with this game.

I have already posted my comments on this game if anyone wants to read them, I didnt want to say that it is only a Leauge game in case people decided that I was playing down Kerry's win but there have been over 100 posts in 24hours here on a good Leauge game in February mostly nothing to do with the actual match itself

Lads and Ladies
It is only a League game dont fall about it

Just read an article in he Gaelic Life there it was called "The Street fighting Years" based on the Meath and Cork battles in th late 80s
Bernard Flynn was saying that Meath concentrated to much on the physical

It was the football that I grew up with, thought it was great stuff at the time, there was a couple of fights very game, I never realised what it involved until '96 since then I have ben a fan of hard but fair soemthing Meath never were.

Legends in Meath are Lyons, OConnell and McEntee, legends in Tyrone are Canavagh and McGuigan.
Meath and Cork players never spoke to each other for 15years after the games, Tyrone and Kerry players are now great mates of the field.
Tyrone are footballers Meath are thugs so dont ever question Tyrone's sportmanship under a Meath username.

scholesy County: Kerry Posts: 66 208027 I think the end of game incidents were minor and should be forgotten about. Opinions being expressed about Ryan McMenamin are based on incients going back down the years. To be fair to most tyrone supporters they have called it as it is with their beloved "ricey". I'm sure they believe a true indication of Tyrone football is more Sean Cavanagh and less Ryan McMenamin Agree totally Scholesy, people cant tar all the tyrone team with the same brush as mcmenamin.Great team and manager..i dont think there should be a place in the GAA for what he went on with yesterday, hes been at it for so long now its ridiculous. How does he keep gettin away with it.There were at least 3 or 4 incidents on sunday that went unpunished..if he cut it out and concentrated on football he'd be considered one of the best defenders in football but i have absolutely zero respect for teh classless way he conducts himself on the field.. Good win by kerry, shocking second half by us again though, which is worrying,as this was our main fault last year. These new rules will suit Darren O Sullivan so much,he played some excellent football yesterday,Was very impressed with bohane aswell and Gooch was Gooch..

Don't ever recall seeing Meath men diving around to get players sent off. Don't ever recall Meath mouthing non stop at players, jeering them and harassing them with personal insults. Meath played hard football but they never got personal. Tyrone are without doubt the most unsporting team to have played the game. They play lovely football but let themselves down with their off the ball antics

Omaghjoe,

Unless you were a short baldy lad then there was noone slabbering on me!

All this negative talk about the match is coming from counties that weren't involved. We, both Tyrone and Kerry, shouldn't rise to them. I know it's hard as they like to drag our county's name through the dirt, but we're up there and people like to take pot-shots at us. It's part of being the best. We're in the media spotlight more and there is more riding on our games. The lesser counties are never talked about. For example, you'd never see someone start a thread slating Louth.

A satisfying win for Kerry on Sunday, always nice to beat the all-Ireland champions in their own backyard. Jack looked especially happy at the final whistle (before the schemozzle began). Good show from Kerry in the first half, haven't seen Tyrone perform so poorly in a few seasons. They came back in great fashion, as we expected. Kerry could have been out of sight but for some poor finishing in the second half, but at least we got an exciting finish.
Healy Park is a great stadium when it has a decent crowd in. Couple of questions though. Why were so few match programmes printed, they were sold out an hour before throw-in? Why were we told the stand was full when two sections at either end remained empty for the duration of the game?
A lot has been said about the behaviour of supporters at the game. I was close to the Kerry goal in the first half and heard or saw no such behaviour. Some good and harmless banter afterwards while stuck in traffic outside the field.
I only realised what happened at the end when I arrived home. Two very unsavoury incidents were caught on camera. I'm sure they will be dealt with appropriately.
It's only February and a lot may happen between now and September. Hopefully these two teams will cross swords again this year as Kerry have only ever managed "soft" titles when taking Sam back from the red-hand.

As Sean cavanagh said its only the league, no need to get carried away!! But finally its a game that has got my interest back in the GAA. it was lost a bit after September last year! Class performance by kerry in the 1st half. Damage was done by then and they never looked like losing. More emphatic if TW got one of his 2 goal chances in the 2nd half. kerry got 3 yellows, 2 of them very harsh. How Mcmenamin played full game is beyond me. Tyrone will be an altogether diff prospect later on in the year but for the league i think some players are playing themselves out of the reckoning at the moment. Eoin Mulligan has played 2 utter rubbish games so far(1-1 against Dublin but was awful) and Brian Sheehan is so far off the pace that he will be lucky to maker the panel not to mind the tam later on in the year

Dellboypolecat Well if you insist that that there was nothing thrown by Tyrone fans at the Goalie the weekend, them i think you shoudl have gone to specsavers old boy! I was in attendance at the game and i can assure you that on numerous occasions, so called fans insisted on abusing and hurling objects at diarmuid as he was retrieving the ball from behind the goal. It is not the first time that yer fans true colours have shown threw now is it! Oh and are you referring to the same county vice chairman who was assualted at half time in the All Ireland. Dellboypolecat, maybe you will be able to refresh my memory as to where a manager on the sideline assualted another player, late last year! Ohhhhh wait wait that is right it was in the the 'class county' of Tyrone. Once again true colours shinng through! On the matter of the Galvin grabbing incident, next time someone grabs you down there then please come back and inform me how it felt? Dont be such a fool, this is a poor mans act. Oh yes thats true the losing is usually the happier lol Oh god dont spout sooo much rubbish all your life. PLease stop letting your tunnell vision cloud your judgement. Kerry deserved to win, as they were the better team & the simple fact of the matter is that Tyrone were bad losers and retalliated in the only way they know!!!!

Comparing the discipline of a team from the 80's to a team nowadays is ridiculous. The game was very different back then.

Lads, i agree with Keano. The game is over now so forget about it. The Championship is the important one and if they meet in the Semi-Final what happened in the league game wont matter one iota !!

A lot of soccer fans sing it. But I'd say Woops lost a bit of interest in the GAA AFTER September because that's when inter-county football ends. And then it gets going again with the league, y'see??? Oh wait, I get it! You're trying to insinuate that Woops is a sunshine supporter from Kerry?! For a college lecturer and a doctor you really should take time out from your busy profession/professions to think before you type.
