It's is clear to me that Galway fans are the worst supporters in Ireland, Yes it was a poor preformance yesterday but it is the first match in the league and anyone who knows anything about hurling knows Dublin are a very decent side who are getting better every year, instead of slating galway why not support them, I sick of asses writing in here slating everyone, longsocks has ye right ye gutless wonders, I will continue to support galway hurling and everyone who puts on the maroon jersey, who burst their guts out every winter training 3 or 4 times a week only to be slated by some fat couch potatoe who's lack of talent with a hurl means writing into here is all they can do. Every team have lost matches.

burst him - no need for name calling! I salute your dedication, the only difference between your support and mine is that I have been giving it for the last 20+ years and have watched this team go no where. I have no delusions regarding Galway's abilities, but the simple truth is they are not living up to their potential, and it is becoming clear that the only reason for that is they are absolutely consumed by parochial rivalries and animosity. I will not support that. I said it before, if they played other counties with the same reckless abandon that they play each other they would be a force of nature. Until they get over themselves, and begin to play as a team, then it is my contention that, as a team, they do not deserve support. Until they put the dedication and support of fans like yourself before their own club rivalries, they will go no where.

Milic Dung, Tommy K you are serving nobody any good with your comments, entitled to them though you may be. People shouldn't lose sight of the fact that whatever comment they wish to make on Galways performance, Dublin are good and rapidly improving. They are a decent bet to beat all teams in Leinster this year bar Kilkenny and an improved Galway who probably won't hurl as bad again.

Kevin Brady is now playing division three hurling with Mayo. I didnt make it to Parnell Park but I spoke to several who did. It was a dark day for Galway- they simply have to improve and the only way is up from here on. We have Cork next and if we cant beat their fourth string side then its goodnight!!!

tommy k, what have clare got to do with anything. the discussion is that galway were beaten out the gate in hurling- by dublin. you were on here spouting about galway winning ais, when anyone with a knowledge of hurling knows that they are useless. outside of joe canning, ollie canning, damian hayes, shane kavanagh and kevin hayes the rest just arent good enough. when they are bringing back mark kerins it sums it all up.

Lads whats happenin on this site is absoulutly disgraceful.Fair enough galway were terrible against dublin and looked lifeless but the level of criticism is way too high.these lads are amateurs, they have jobs.they still train and train to better themselves and achieve there goals with the galway team.you talk about the 80's fair enough we won 3all irelands but we should have won at least 6 or 7 because we had the best team by a mile. i have no doubt that galway will regroup and turn around this minor setback and i will be the first man there to support them.the REAL galway supporters will wait for a lot of you writing on this site to buy your jerseys in september and plauge john fahy for an all ireand ticket.festinog you are exatly whats wrong with Galway hurling.you dont stop supporting a team because they get beaten.and if they dont have any "desire" to play for galway than why do these lads train like dogs and make sacrificies year round.your talkin tripe.your not a galway supporter.your a disgrace.i have no doubt you love to see galway gettin beaten so you can get out your 80's scrapbook and start your slatin..do us all a favour and keep your comments to urself Gallimh Abu

catch the ball you claimed you were a Galway man from the football side of the county so are you or aren't you seeing that you are on the Clare board talking about their team last Sunday and how good it was even though it was beaten out the gate by Waterford?! Galway were beaten well last Sunday with a second string side out but Clare were practically at full strength so if I were you I would stick to the Clare board and ponder how bad yere footballers (4th division!!) and hurlers are rather than worry about us!!!!

ah famine, you've gone and hurt my feelings. But thanks for showing us that the point of a discussion forum is to have discussions that only you agree with. Very open minded of you. Enjoy life under your rock.

catch the ball. I never said Galway would win the AI but I did say Leinster would make us more competitive but you try to twist it around as usual. If you look at my previous posts I have been highly critical of the team / selections etc but remember it is only February and no cups are handed out now. I would say that we have as good as chance as Clare this year anyway but that is not comparing us to much as you know!!

from what i can gather most of the contributors here are committed genuine galway hurling supporters and like me have travelled far and wide to support galway since the 80's. Lets not have anyone here attempting to take the high moral ground because they may have been in a position to travel to dublin last sunday. and stop missing the point.

Contributors are well entitled to be annoyed with recent performances and to express their annoyance if they so wish. long socks etc. just grow up please.

Well said ke168, while a lot of us may have never played hurling at a decent level, or go to all of the Galway matches, it does not mean we are not allowed to voice our opinions. The fact of the matter is that most Galway hurling supporters are incredibly frustrated, it is now 21 years since we won an All Ireland, yet in that time we have seen huge success at Minor and U-21 level, but nothing at senior level. A county like Galway should be winning at least two senior All Ireland's every decade, yet through a mixture of bad management, some players clearly not up to it, and inter club politics we are still no closer to that elusive All Ireland win, and judging by last Sunday getting further and further away from it.

ke168 and gilly, nicely said and I agree whole-heartedly. At the end of the day lets not forget that this is a site where Galway supporters no matter where they are, can come and talk about their team(s). I don't expect everyone (or anyone!) to agree with me, but being told to shut up because some lad takes my views personally is childish and in total contrast to the very purpose of a discussion forum. Disagree with me all ye like, but if your best retort is to tell me to be quiet then you have nothing to offer the debate but personal invective and tired rhetoric.

outside of the portumna contingent galway were missing no substantial player on sunday.(john lee doesnt count as he will be missing for rest of year). in any case dublin were missing 4 or 5 players themselves, including their best back (ronan fallon) and their best forward (david o callaghan) who only came on with 15 minutes to go.(he was sick all week). and remember they werent just beaten, they were beaten by 12 points. tommy k, you should really get help with your clare obsession. ps your clutching at straws if you think iarla tannion or fergal moore would have made much of a difference on sunday. fergal moore is constantly injured and they should forget about him.
