osana for the champion hurlde at 10/1 and denman to repeat his heroics of last year at 9/2 in places is too good to pass up. hurler in the ditch (Louth) - Posts: 439 - 01/03/2009 14:38:55 221304 Link 0 |
Looks like Sicilian Secret is the number one Willie Mullins bumper horse after the Leopardstown gallops. He did it so easy. Meath AllStar didn't do too bad either and he perhaps isn't fully fit having not run since July and been given a break since. I have these two as either of Willie's number ones. Of the others Gagewell Flyer and Cranky Corner did well whilst Cadspeed and Glenlo Abbey did struggle a bit. Nothing else really caught my eye bar the fact that Jayo will not win an Arkle in a month of Sundays. Hardy Eustace, Won in the Dark and Sublimity were all good without been spectacular. Also Cooldine and Golden Silver took a few chances when they went to jump the fences too so slight concern there. It must be noted though that the ordinary Joe Soap does not know what weight these horses were carrying so maybe don't read too much into them. Loyalz point very valid re weights. So one has to be very careful with such gallops and I would suggest that they are unlikely to have all been at levels but would be set to confuse. lochgarmanabu (Wexford) - Posts: 1022 - 01/03/2009 22:59:10 221608 Link 0 |

I didnt get to make it to Leopardstown Loyal, had to bring girlfriend to Snow Patrol in O2, raging but no harm building up brownie points for next week. From reading RP, I see Silicilian Secret worked well, anything else catch your eye Loyal? gianfranco (Offaly) - Posts: 100 - 02/03/2009 09:31:39 221768 Link 0 |
Willie Mullins said Quinola Des Obeaux did a nice piece of work yesterday morning and didn't need to work on the gallops as a result. Only the bumper horses were really pushed out. Sicilian Secret was by far the most impressive I thought and with memories of Missed That in 2005 who also flew up the Leopardstown gallops in my mind, surely has to be Willie's number one. Meath AllStar was ridden very quietly and I think the Cheltenham hill will suit him. Sicilian Secret seems to have a lot of speed but Meath AllStar looks a bit of a stayer to me. Gagewell Flyer and Cranky Corner in with chances too. Mullins has already confirmed Katie Walsh will ride the mare Morning Supreme who is another I would be quietly confident about. cheers for that loyal2theroyal, i was impressed by quinola des obeaux with convincing wins at punchestown (7l) and cork (15l) and now has a rating of 123, quick ground would lessen his chances. I really fancy Tatenen in the arkle, he was 2nd to Follow the Plan in the Durkan Home Novices Chase run over 2m 1F, this race lacked a strong pace and a fast arkle should suit him and lessen the chances of AP on Calgary Bay, what race is morning supreme in loyal2theroyal, my banker was hurricane fly!. Wonder whats happening in the Denman camp, drifted out to 6's with paddypower. nevergiveup08 (Monaghan) - Posts: 315 - 02/03/2009 18:35:12 222337 Link 0 |
Loyal nail your mast to the post.Willie Mullins gone from 6-4 to 3-1 to win the bumper only this evening at HQ i was told by one of the lads in the game Fentons horse would be a good each way bet. DABLACKSPOT (Westmeath) - Posts: 551 - 02/03/2009 18:42:13 222345 Link 0 |
back pipe's horse in the 1st, e/w around 7-1 now, but maybe better on the day, when the irish hammer into vinny. pongo (Limerick) - Posts: 29 - 02/03/2009 23:00:48 222555 Link 0 |
Think Weld will upstage Mullins and claim the bumper. Are you still sticking to Meath All Star Loyal? A place might be the best you could hope for there IMO. I have already mentioned her, but for anyone looking for a cracking each way bet look no further than Oscar Rebel in the mares race on day 1. 14/1 at the moment in a very open race and should be very close to winning it. kobie (Offaly) - Posts: 272 - 03/03/2009 09:34:59 222658 Link 0 |
Kobie, she has no chance in the mares race. If whiteoak runs she will win in a hack canter! Oscar rebel doesnt have the class to be in the first three in my opinion. I think the same applies to give it time. For once i think taht Noel Meade has timed his run to the festival perfectly. It has taken him enough years to do it! His horses are coming back into form at the right time. Although i am not a fan of the trainer i think that Go Native is a cracking each way bet in the supreme novices at 12/1. I also cant see Ferdy Murphys horse Naiad De Misselot being out of the frame in the Jewson. Winner of the Coral cup Lat march he has had a quiet buildup and the better ground will suit. cracking each way value at 11/1. Tranquill sea looks well handicapped(ala Finger on the pulse) but here is something not quiet right with the horse and i dont think you could take a chance with him. Carruthers will win the RSA i reckon. kauto (Carlow) - Posts: 18 - 03/03/2009 10:09:15 222674 Link 0 |
Kauto, Whiteoak definitely has a good chance and has good course form but I still am going to have my money down on Oscar Rebel. I disagree with you that she doesnt have enough class to win it and she is improving all the time. That race is not the hottest and at 14/1 is great value. Not sure of the jockey yet but would like to see Ruby get on board again. She didnt get a hard time of it the last day behind Catch Me and was staying on all the time and the extra half mile is ideal. Anyway Kauto you dont have to back her its just my opinion formed from info and from what I have seen of her, but I hope you come on after the race and hold your hands up if she runs well. If it goes against me I will do the same. kobie (Offaly) - Posts: 272 - 03/03/2009 10:27:13 222689 Link 0 |
Kobie no problem with coming on here and holding my hands up if shre does run well. I just cant see it personally. kauto (Carlow) - Posts: 18 - 03/03/2009 10:52:49 222712 Link 0 |
Ferdy won two handicaps in 2006, two in 2007 and one last year. Have a feeling Three Mirrors is the one this year, could be layed out for the Festival Plate. 14/1 and already the gamble has started. Needs goodish ground and looks likely to get that and has run well at Cheltenham before. Loyal2TheRoyal (Meath) - Posts: 4522 - 03/03/2009 10:57:39 222717 Link 0 |

Quevaga in the Mares race for me. Already the gamble has started on her and she has very good form in Auteuil I think which ties in well with Hurricane Fly. Won very easily the last day and Mullins said she wasn't even fit. But the 4/1 now could look very big even come the day of the race. quevega/ united mabye has a shot here, go native all sound bets realy, three mirrors does look like a cracking bet. brett favre (Sligo) - Posts: 659 - 04/03/2009 18:00:58 224073 Link 0 |
Loyal, I agree with you regarding Sicilian Secret. That was the only horse that yard i get word from were afraid to oppose so it must be a good one !! I am on at 9's anyway. Cavan_Slasher (Cavan) - Posts: 10253 - 04/03/2009 22:45:06 224335 Link 0 |
