if McCoy had have had that attitude on tue he would not have had that winner. samin10 (Armagh) - Posts: 2434 - 12/03/2009 09:07:18 230694 Link 0 |

Bad enough day at the races yesterday. Meath All Star let me down badly. Hopefully today will be better. men_of_49 (Meath) - Posts: 2022 - 12/03/2009 10:12:24 230730 Link 0 |
loyal - what you think of punchestowns in the world? i wouldnt trust the jocky on K.Bliss so i think punchestowns has a great chance. a winner at cheltenham before if im not mistaken. Rhodejim (Offaly) - Posts: 2888 - 12/03/2009 10:41:47 230760 Link 0 |
i dont like carberry anyway, i think he does give up sometimes, when its showed he shouldnt. i want a jockey to always max what he can out of a horse and i dont feel he always does that. kauto star (Sligo) - Posts: 42 - 12/03/2009 11:16:38 230789 Link 0 |
At the end of the day, if you watch enough races, you will get to know jockeys and their different styles. If you back a horse ridden by a jockey in his usual style, be realistic in your expectations. For instance, Ruby will sit quiet at his fences and tends to get horses jumping better than McCoy who very often kicks his mounts into his fences but at the same time there is no one better at galvanising a horse in a finish. If you back a horse ridden by Paul Carberry, he will hold up his horse more often, get the horse to settle and hope to come with one big run passing beaten horses. Different courses and the competitiveness of races will either suit or hinder a horses chances, factor it in with a jockeys style. gianfranco (Offaly) - Posts: 100 - 12/03/2009 11:37:40 230806 Link 0 |
Rhodejim makes a very good point. I would say Geraghty and Walsh will outwit Pieux in this one. They will make it a test, they will want to drag the finishing kick out of Kasbah Bliss. I can see Pieux holding the horse up and hoping to come late. If that happens, I can't see him out battling Big Bucks or even Punchestowns up the hill. He has ran at Cheltenham four times and been beaten on all four occasions. Big Bucks for me but Punchestowns to chase him home. Ive gone for Punchestowns on the logic pinted out by Rhodejim and loyal but really, Kasbahs jockey would want to be seriously useless to blow it. Kasbah should be the best horse in the race by some distance. Have Voy pur in Ryanair but not feelin too confident at the minute. Something tells me Tidal bay is in for a big run. mossbags (Galway) - Posts: 1089 - 12/03/2009 13:58:15 230927 Link 0 |
Galiant came full of running 3 out but faded badly between 2nd last and last thought it would have got a place? thats Cheltenham , Clarify being tipped up why is it drifting in the offices? tony martin string not running well, but am a sucker for a whisper so might have a bit at it. williewentwell (Tyrone) - Posts: 1712 - 12/03/2009 14:34:02 230945 Link 0 |

so far so good for me, backed the first one at 8s then inperial commander at 6s. rather do an ew that should def get a place and take on an even money favourite than go for the evs favourite samin10 (Armagh) - Posts: 2434 - 12/03/2009 15:46:49 231006 Link 0 |

Glorious day. Won a few bob the last two days but putting wrong selections together meant I wasn't getting full value or return - but 3 ew doubles and a treble on Chaptoturgeon. Schindler's Hunt & Character Building left the girl in PP asking me if I was trying to do her out of a job! Happy, happy days - roll on tomorrow!!
