Would be a total disaster if they Champs were to be called off!!Surely the pitches couldn't be any worse than they were in London 2 yrs ago?Doesn't seem as if the weather will get any better tho, we lose 50% of our hotel booking as well if it gets cancelled!!!!

I wouldn't worry yet.

Plenty of time for the snow to melt and although the forecast is for light snow showers on saturday, I dont think it will be a problem in terms of weather although it will be cold.

The only thing is that the pitches will be heavy underfoot. However, isn't it always like that at this tiome of year

With the weather in the midlands the tournament must be in doubt. 4 to 6 inches of lying snow and promised worst to come tomorrow night.

A disaster is an understatement. This is the weekend every team in the country that has planned on making an appearance at the Championships has been looking forward ta all year and for it to be cancelled would be... well... sickening to say the least. Don't know 'bout others but we're ready for go. I do agree with Saints_boy that they couldn't be any worse than in London 2 years ago... now that was farcical. Like playing in bog. Main sticking point, excuse the pun, I think would be the hardness of the pitches due to frost. The weather looks like being the same over the next few days aswell and with just 2 days between the start on Friday it does look dodgy. Wouldn't mind the snow or cold... 'tis only cold like, bit of under-armour will sort the job. Unfortunately we will lose some of our booking aswell. But I agree with Kerryman, the organisers should all just get on with it and get it done... the pitches will be hard and heavy but that is to be expected. Let's get on with it... and play some ball... YUP YUP.

5 day forecast for Birmingham

Thursday day weather - Heavy Snow
Friday day weather -Light Snow
Saturday day weather - Light Snow Shower
Sunday day weather - Sleet

Not looking good for the comps. Grounds men will not want their pitches putting through 3 or 4 games this weekend.

Lads, cant wait for the weekend. Question, where is everybody going Saturday for the rugby match?? Would be nice to have a right good crowd together in Birmingham. Also, safe travelling to everybody going to the tournament, leave early and give loads of time for the journeys. See ye all Saturday..

Bad news boys!!!!Division 1 is going to go ahead but has been moved to Manchester, v short notice and Div 2 and the Plate have been moved to next weekend. If the hotels don't allow the room reservations to be transfer to next weekend we could see a drop out from a number of teams as it is also Valentines next week so rooms will go up in price and may not be available that weekend!!!

The Plate is due to be played next week as is Div 2 but this is to be confirmed later tonight at a Committe meeting ( NY were informed that it has been moved to next week so I'm sure the authorities will do their best to make that happen or NY are out a lot of money!!!)

Regarding New York: they will of course be hurt by this. If they cant rearrange then they might have to play in division 1.

I assume their team is essentially all the gaelic footballers in new york who go to university and not really a university team: maybe it might be the encouragement for them to get their own competition going...

corvalley, you can contact jmu hurling through [email protected]

Oh and by the way, Liverpool uni where beaten today by JMU's 2nd team in the plate competition. JMU toped their group and also beat chester. I believe Man met and UCLAN also progressed to the semi finals. (not sure who the 4th semi finalist is).

Is it true that the John Mitchells Football club wouldn't let the universities play on their pitch this weekend as I heard that they were hoping to play the plate competition between the chester and liverpool pitches. If this is true its bad form for a club who are fueled mainly be ex-university players in the liverpool area. Its hardly good promotion for the game in the U.K.??
