Dancing at the limerick crossroads

I remember as a young boy the beginning of September we were standing at the station waiting 4 a train,
There were priests and Christian brothers there was nuns and reverends mothers there were guys and drunks and others and everyone was just the same,
Well they came from Patrickswell from Adare and Newcastle West and Croom there was buses from Broadford there were horses carts and all,
And as they stepped out on the platform they were shouting and scremimg
and as they carried Gary Kirby he was 25 feet tall.
So whats the story Ciaran Carey now Limericks really bound for glory and when at last the cup was lifted they said we brought it back for you.

Chorus
We were dancing at the crossroads in the shadow of a bonfire underneath the silver moon light we were singing until dawn,
Yeah we were dancing at the crossroads, with the poteen and the porter dancing jigs and reels and polkas until the early morn

And every banner on the main street they were hanging from the rafters as we sang Limerick you're a lady like it was going out of style
All the bingo halls were empty, all the masses finished early sure ya never saw the likes of since the time of JFK
and when we look at young Clarke through the midfield he was storming and then the Cusack stand erupted well he scored from sixty yards

Chorus repeated

Instrumental

And when I think of Noel O' Conner so many say he was a gonner but when he stood up in the Hogan i even saw a grown man cry...

Chorus
HERE WE GO

Shortpuckout, I thought the very same when I read it, the 94 and 96 team were no differant to the fine teams we had in the 80's, end result was the same, they failed to deliver the big one. We have had 30 odd years of good teams, giving us some great days but unfortunately the 96 team and manager will be remembered for the wrong reasons.

In fairness pullhard the Ballybricken jersey isn't anywhere as similar to the Wexford jersey these days. The Ballybricken one is by far better!

BTW theclawhammer, the entire hurling world bemoans the fact that ye won that All-Ireland, one of the worst teams to win a All-Ireland, only positive thing from that team was Liam Giffen.

miketyson turth hurts but i will not praise a team of hacket men. Oh dont worry ive totally moved on. So have Limerick we are building a young talented team, and wexford are stuck in divison 2 with no sponsor,i think that speak volumes. No matter what Limerick failed to do at least they can say they didnt lower themselves and tarish the game by taking players out of the game.

Limerick can have no qualms about 96, not being able to change their shape to suit a 15 v 14 game after Wexford corner forward got the road. Liam Dunne is no saint but i think that 94 will live much longer in the gut than 96 as would others. Let sleeping dogs lie and all that......Limerick have a nice balance at the moment and could very well win munster, beyond that is very questionable unless somebody beats kilkenny which would mean twice in the new format.
