I do not mind rugby (as in I watch the matches but never go to them) but know little about it so I generally do not know what clubs players play with. I know Shane Horgan (does he play with Leinster??) played Gaelic football with Meath. Tommy Bowe (Ulster??) played football in Monaghan (not with county team as far as I know), Keith Wood and Anthony Foley both played with Clare under 16 hurlers. Mick Galwey and Moss Keane both played with the Kerry senior footballers and Shane Byrne plays football in Wicklow. There was another guy a few years back that went back playing football with Ballyboden St Endas in Dublin but for the life of me, I can not think of his name.

Most of the Irish rugby team played GAA - Shane Horgan played minor for meath, Geordan Murphy played minor with Kildare, Brian O'Driscoll played for Clontarf, Luke Fitzgerald played for St Olafs, John Hayes played with Bruff in Limerick...the list goes on

Current Connacht Captain John Muldoon hurled Minor with Galway. I think he may have won an All Ireland with them.

Dubfan85, it is not true that Shane Long came home from Reading to play for his club in a relegation match. There is no relegation in any grade of hurling in Tipperary. Neither did he win an All Ireland Minor Hurling medal although he did play on a losing Tipperary minor hurling team in an All Ireland Semi Final. He was a very talented hurler and footballer, but as far as I know the only All Ireland medal he won was an All Ireland Vocational Schools "B" title with Tipperary.

Fred, what is your problem with Niall McGinn playing for NI. Has it ever occurred to you he
1. Was never asked to play for ROI
2. Is not eligible for ROI

Add to the fact ROI wouldnt look at him while he was at Derry. He did the right thing at taking his opportunity when it came along to raise his profile and take his career to the next level.

But I'm sure if Rangers came along and offered YOU £5k a week at your only ever shot at professional football you'd turn it down cause you'd never play for Rangers.
