Should clubs now ban soccer?

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

Guys it's a free country, would like to see any of you mouth-pieces tell players... to pick a sport. Nah, don't think so.... This is another pointless thread, the soccer season never effects us and we have players who have even had trails with premiership clubs. Pointless, move along please. P S ; I take it everyone knows that Irvinestown Gael, Cillnaile. , Gaalltheway are the same person, it is the fore mentioned twister signing in under slightly modified user names. Certainly lives a life less ordinary, by themself, sad.

2009O_Dwyer what a pathetic individual you are.
But then what does one expect with someone from Coa?
Don't insult my intelligence by associating me with Sham gael.
Now how you could say I was "Cillnaile" takes the biscuit.
I'm sorry to disappoint you O'Dwyer but I don't believe in multiple postings unlike you which I know for a fact you do.
We in the Gaels club know who you are.
Does "Gaaalltheway", "Ferm4Sam" are but some of your other posting names.
O'Dwyer you would be better sorting out you registration for players and stop poaching Gaels players and using unregistered soccer players to boost you team in championships.

Is there a stand-off between the Ederney players and management? I hear there was an emergency players meeting called on Sunday evening. It will be interesting to see whether the soccer element or the non-soccer element win through.

erneboy you are not quite correct but my investigation the morning does reveal that there was a meeting but it was about appointing a manager and training. Apparently, St Joes issuppose to have 20+ applicants for the job as senior manager which the players think is laughable and most definately untrue. The thinking among the players is that the committee don't want to appoint an ex-manager and are delaying the decision in the hope they will find someone that they agree with. The St Joes player that told me say that the players were clever enough not to debate the soccer issue. So erneboy your info is not exactly right. Although, I will be rubbish on here for exposing issues of the day, it will not stop me from continuing to do so!!!

I cannot believe that Ederney have over 20 names for manager vacancy.
It does not seem believeable given that the county board couldn't get enough interest in taking over the Fermanagh senior team.
Sometimes I think that ederney club have got carried away with themselves.
While most clubs have a committee, the Ederney club calls theirs an Executive Committee.
Talk about being pompious, Ederney are up there.

i thot they had 20 names they were going to ask not 20 offers, an executive commitee is not a commitee but its part of a commitee which looks after certain affairs. cant remember exactly how the whole structure of it works but its common enough. just seen my last msg didnt post but cant be bothered retyping it in this stupid arguement. clubs can ban soccer when they start making players sign contracts

speedy12 you must be living on the moon as you don't seem to know the law of the land north or south.
You cannot make a player sign a contract if the contract infringes on the person's rights to play another sport under new equality laws.
End od of story.

stjoes are turning out 2 be just another joke club like coa. any club going out wif a list of 20 names to head hunt 4 a manager at tis stage r a bit late and who would wan 2 be chosen from part of a large pile of wouldbe managers since it luks like stjoes is scraping around the bottom of a barrel so 2 speak. as 4 the soccer thing, a contract wouldnt be worth the paper its written on wen the law tackles it leaving aside the objections of the gaa hierachy. join coa lads and u will keep us laughing...

The comments on this message board seem to be a lot more positive than those on the Tyrone message board which is having a major debate after the problems Fintona Pearses had at their AGM. I played for that club for a number of years when many of the lads I played with played Soccer or Rugby on Saturdays. I agree with Ekn teacher I think he has it about right. We cannot force people to do things in an organisation which prides itself on its voluntary ethos. It has long been a tradition in Enniskillen that the boys played for the Town in the winter but played with the Gaels when the championship started. Fintona have taken a backward and retrograde step and we should learn not to follow their example.

Fionntamhnach what a traitor you are now that you have moved to Enniskillen. Fintona like ourselves have taken decisions in the best interest of the gealic game. How could that be a retrograde step? Have you never heard of the word 'loyalty'?

hi dromore lad keep ur nose out of fermanaghs affairs as u know nothing about us. the fintona player now with the gaels club is rite to say wat he said.
a player must be allowed to make up there own mind and not bullied by club management into not playing other sports if one wans to.

Dromorethegreat. Traitor that is a very strong and emotive word to use about fellow gaels (where is the moderator!). Dromore at least tried to bring people with them, in Fintona they did not even try. They have created a split which will take time to heal. I have spoken to my freinds and relations in Fintona and they are very dismayed at the leadership shown by some on this issue. We must move with the times (or perhaps you remember the 1979?) people should play our games because they want to not because of some form of misplaced ideology. I am almost ashamed of my colleagues in Fintona but there are still so many committed Gaels there, and they are driving a wedge between them. At least in Fermanagh they respect people's opinions.

This debate appears to be simmering into a more heated one.
Well, I was at Brewster Park on Wed night and the official story circulating is that Ederny, Irvinestown and Lisnaskea are to enforce an unofficial ban on any of its players playing soccer during the GAA season initially, progressing to a complete ban from 2010.
I believe that top brass in the county GAA are not going to interfere and want to see how this will pan out.
