Tyrone941. I see you have taken it upon yourself to use my personal name in your contribution. That is a name my friends use and clearly you are not one of them so please refrain. I tend not to reply to people who have limited use of the language and cannot spell, however on this occasion I feel I have to respond. The only mess at the AGM was that the Chairman would not allow discussion to take place. What did they have to hide, what were they afraid of? The debate was cut short by the turbulent priest who intimidated people into supporting their stance. The meeting was cut short and the business of the meeting was not finished. As regards the soccer players being welcome I think you will find this is not true. Indeed one player was specifically told not to come back. Indeed I personally witnessed this particular incident. I doubt very much if many of the ostracised would feel welcome at training sessions. The air had been poisoned long before the AGM. As for the success of the Swifts I did not say that this was the reason for the problem, their success in the cup in 2008 just brought matters to a head. The situation could have been managed but they failed to do this due to entrenched positions on both sides. I found it strange that certain people were not selected because they played soccer for the Swifts while another player who openly played for another team continued to play reserve football for the entire season.

edenasop Not alot of winning history on your club website, nevertheless anything you have won ahs been before the formation of the soccer club. I see you are doing quite well this year and are thru to the q/f of the championship so the players there must be doing alright. mAybe they are proving a point.

I see Fintona have now went 2 more seasons without silverware and this has been without the supposed disruption that the soccer players bring. Seems to me that it has been proven that soccer is not the reason why Fintona are unsuccessful. I wonder would the Fintona committee agree with this, (definately not).

Actually Gar Ball, fintona just didnt perform on saturday night and as for soccer people playing for them there was 2 back and nobody stopped them coming back! So it shows how much u actually no about fintona football.

well thats me told then. I was just pointing out that it was previously mentioned that the lack of committment from the boys who played soccer was the reason fintona were unsuccessful, maybe that wasnt the reason afterall, maybe it lies with the fintona setup as it has been said that the manager does not have full control over picking the team.

Thought this debate had ended but it seems that the Pearses search for success will continue for some time to come. The Under 14 sides were the only successes of the season. They will have to wait for as long as ten years before these kids are mature enough to win at a more senior level. With the Pearses club set to celebrate its centenary in seven years time maybe the club could invest some time and money in developing a plan which deliver results both on and off the field. Many of the Pearses players played with me at the club and should be taking things easier by now. My own club is having difficulties also with our main players in the pushing 40 bracket.
