No New Year honours for Tyrone

Ah the old "clubs" excuse patrique i never tire of hearing it. I like the wee "we cant be good at everything" excuse fired in for good measure. Whats that phrase all the kk lads are prone to saying "jack of all trades. master of none".

Oh and as for the strong sigerson showing, that makes youse the next derry. have a good decade.

Less of the disparaging remarks towards Tommy Murphy or horses for that matter.

Trileac, these are not excuses. These are facts about the GAA in Antrim. And excuses for what? Excuses for not winning 25 all Ireland titles, sure who cares. A loaf of bread will still be £1.25 tomorrow even if we had 30 Sams.

I assume KK lads are Kilkenny? One thing we have in common with Kilkenny is we get criticised for dominating hurling. In our case it is province wide only, but it is total domination. They didn't even play the hurling championship for years so total was that dominance, the reason we don't have 300 Ulster titles. So we get the old "Kilkenny/Antrim are dominating hurling. It's a stupid game, we don't play it" brigade.

Just as it is up to Cork, Tipp and the rest to raise their game to once again match the Cats, it is also up to the rest of Ulster to try to match Antrim. No good just lying down and surrendering.

But I suppose we are used to being on our own.

Patrique quit fooling yourself. If they are not excuses then why did you bring them up? Fair enough some were facts except of course for "Antrim have a number of good quality footballers". You would be taking a number of liberties with the words "good quality" there. The clubs and the hurling "monopoly" (did Derry not win the U-21 last year) are just excuses for your poor showing in football in recent history. Camogie success and "taking part is more important than winning" are some of the other well-worn excuses you put forward for Antrim's displays. Not that excuses annoy me. Everyone here has there excuses. In tyrone we like to put forward the "Hurling and/or history doesnt matter" excuse for the flaws with our GAA success. In Kerry its the "Nordies play to rough" excuse. In kilkenny/clare/limerick its the "we dont care for bogball" excuse. Dublin hold the "we were deadly in the 70's" excuse close to their hearts and so on. What gets me though is that you lambast tyrone posters for their igonrance of the past GAA and of hurling but whenever someone drags up Antrims less than distinguished history you feel free to throw in some old well-worn excuse. In short Patrique your inability to recognise the shortcomings of the GAA in Antrim means you sit on the same plain as your most beloved poster, Dellboypolecat. (except you can spell). You see for as long as Dellboy blabs on about "greatest ever" this and "best team" that, its guaranteed that you will respond straight away with a comment on Antrim's "total dominance" of the GAA in ulster or how "McGourty is the worlds best CHF". You and him are one and the same; ignorant, delusional and full of tired old excuses.

Now now, Trileac, you are sounding miffed.

Numerous people have asked "How come Antrim are useless" and I merely supplied the facts. Facts, not excuses. What you fail to understand is the attitude to County football, it is a bit like English soccer, the club comes before the country.

I was at the county board meeting when the back door was discussed. The first 12 speakers all said they were happy enough with things. Antrim hadn't won a match for 18 years. as the unlucky 13th speaker I pointed this out, and EVERYONE sort of went "So?".

Unfortunately that is the prevailing attitude. The big clubs WERE happy enough with only one county game in the summer. We wouldn't want to interfere with the Beringer Cup would we? The back-door meant two county games in the summer, two too many for most of the clubs.

Derry by the way have won the last two U21. Total dominance, which you accuse Kilkenny off, doesn't really mean a literal "total". But winning about 95% of Provincial titles is as close to "total" as anyone is going to get.

As for Antrim's achievements? Not my fault, nothing I can do about that, I never played on any of the 170 Ulster title winning sides. And just think, if the hurling titles hadn't been abolished for years due to Antrim's "total" dominance, it would be closer to 300 titles.

The next best in Ulster is Cavan obviously with 60.

That's a fact.

Now at this point in History Padraig Harrington has won 3 golf majors. A man called Nicklaus won 19/18 of them. Now are you going to tell me that Harrington has a higher standing in the annals of golf than Nicklaus, because Jack won his titles years ago?

Well maybe you will.

now DBPC thats a cheap shot very cheap its nice to be nice antrim can only play against the teams that they face in ulster its not their fault that counties like tyrone and cavan wont put the effort into our natoinal sport. and one of the biggest sporting achievements in ireland over the last 30 years was antrim getting to an AI senior final probably ulsters greatest achievement at senior level

And whose fault is that? Antrim's?

And it does beg the question,if it is that easy why can't Cavan, Fermanagh and the rest, including Tyrone, win it?

I mean it's easy to win, isn't it?
