No New Year honours for Tyrone

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

Erm, well to be fair, there's a bit of a difference between how Tyrone and Mayo's year went. I don't get your post though. Nobody's made topics saying "what are Tyrone's failings?" Why would any county who won the all-ireland concentrate on that? I'm sure if Mayo had beaten us in the qualifier, which they could well have done, people would have wondered how Tyrone could improve. Surely it would be a bit arrogant of us to complain about how we need to improve after winning the bloody thing. I suppose we could launch a better defence of our title next year than we've done in the past.

My post is to do with the oceans of tyrone posts I have read on here, but im at a loss for an objective view... Iv never read a tyrone post about dooher's dive in the final (where there was no contact at all), yet there are novels on o'mahoneys dive...
Arrogant to look to improve? What are you talking about? Here's an example for you: Man Utd won the league last year, they then went and bought berbatov...

"Now Kilkenny have won three (3) Leinster senior football titles. Tyrone have not won an Ulster hurling title, which some Tyrone people assure me is an easy trophy to win."

Oh so Kilkenny are fine now? Because of something that happened in the distant past, it's less worse than Tyrone's poor efforts in Hurling?

Tyrone and Kerry are the two most cynical teams of the decade. that means they are smart and is the reason why they are the most successful.

I suspect you will find that Kilkenny will give you an argument there.

It appears that many Tyrone people simply do not understand the GAA. Certainly I would love it if Antrim won the all Ireland this year, Gilly, and Tommy Hall, harry Spence, Tommy Rice, Joe Quinn and a host of others would deserve it.

Who are those people? They dedicated their lives to promoting Gaelic Games, not to winning. Some of them are no longer with us, but still remembered.

And that is what the association is about.

Erm I can't even remember that Dooher incident, but I'll take your word for it. Maybe you should complain about the media's reaction, who didn't highlight it, no? Maybe if they actually showed it, we could say: "he dived there", no? And yes, re. the Man Utd point, what have you expected? Topics from discerning Tyrone fans about next year, the players we could bring in? There's some on the Tyrone board. And as for the oceans of Tyrone posts, well last time i checked, this was a topic about Tyrone made by a non-Tyrone person. A little strange.

lads most of the tripe going on on this thread is not even worth reading never mind responding too. But just to point out to Patrique that Tyrone have actually won an All Ireland Junior hurling title. I don't remember the year but Brendan Harkin was the manager.

Excellent point Bocerty, I am positive Tyrone won an all Ireland Junior title but alas it is not on the county website. I know they lost the final to Meath in 1999, but I remember writing about them winning it.

Alas as old age overtakes me my short term memory is useless.

I know who won Sam in 1928, and can name the winning captain, but 2008?

If you can find the year they won the hurling, I would appreciate it.

Patrique - maybe they didnt win it - i was thinking 1998 or 2000 as I was under the impression they contested 2 consecutive finals losing the first one and winning the next one - but my facts could be wrong as Meath won it in 1998 and lost to Armagh in 2000. I was convinced Tyrone beat London in the final but I can see no record of it.

I will check it out in more detail but i may have to stand corrected on my orginal post.

They won the Ulster junior in 1995 and 96 I think. maybe it was a special all Ireland as Kilkenny had James Mcgarry and others playing junior in those days.

TheMaster, what's a berbatov and why would Tyrone want to buy one?

I am nearly sure we are talking 1996 but it does not help that the official Tyrone Website does not MENTION hurling.

Sad, and a shame.

Hurling not readily mentioned cos it is a minority sport. Something akin to rounders or bog snorkling.

Lord forgive them, for they know not what they do.

Sad. If Tyrone lose to Armagh in Ulster this year, and lose in the first qualifying game, expect the sale of Manchester United jerseys to rise considerably in the county, amidst calls for the sacking of Mickey Harte, and the dropping of Dooher, Canavan and Gormley.

And Dick Cranium will be on the look out for an Arab to take over the Tyrone Board, to buy Gooch, Donaghy, McGourty, and O'Mahoney.

Have some Woolworth vouchers left over- will be able to use them to get that McGourty if the need arises.

It's all relative. From looking at hoganstand, you'd think next to no one cares about hurling, apart from people like Patrique.

Which one? There are three of them all worth a place on Tyrone's football team, and along with their all Ireland winning sister they would certainly enhance the Tyrone hurling team.
