Congratulations to Roisin O' keeffe (lacken), Bronagh sheridan (drumlane) and Donna English (arvagh) after winning the colleges all-ireland cup with DCU! Pat9 (Cavan) - Posts: 19 - 01/04/2009 12:56:43 245346 Link 0 |
Here, here...can i ask a simple question? why has hugh donnelly such a problem with these ladies playing for there college!! I mean should it not be something to be proud of that 3 members have a colleges all ireland medal? i refer to the cavan post??? Come on cop yourself on!! if ya ask me i think we should get rid of him and have somebody from outside the county, look at jason tanine with leitrim, I mean I know he from tyrone but he's too closely linked, cavan will win nothing unless this happens...maybe I'll be proved wrong?? lilo84 (Cavan) - Posts: 13 - 01/04/2009 15:51:26 245503 Link 0 |
I dont think the issue was with the girls playing with their college. Not sure if the post printed the full story. I would'nt be so hasty to call the county board to get rid of him. i still think he has a chance of getting sucess to the county in the form of an all ireland. Hope Im not proved wrong Cavan_Ned (Cavan) - Posts: 95 - 02/04/2009 10:37:57 246119 Link 0 |
I have a funny feeling the issue was them playing with their college...ridiculous if you ask me, they should have a right to represent the college they play with especially something as prestigious as o connor cup...whats his problem anyway? seriously why,i agree with the discipline badly needed but I think this is taking it a bit far but then again I agree with his approach in regards it doesn't matter who you are, rules are rule, good to see that aspect, badly needed but i dunno...will have to see on sunday if he follows through on his threat??? best of luck to the cavan ladies anyways lilo84 (Cavan) - Posts: 13 - 03/04/2009 17:30:58 247684 Link 0 |
Hard luck to the girls on sunday but perhaps it could have be avoided! Pat9 (Cavan) - Posts: 19 - 06/04/2009 18:06:30 249938 Link 0 |
the issue was with the 3 girls drinking after they won the o connor cup, hence they broke the 10 day drink ban before a league game. clonee (Cavan) - Posts: 68 - 06/04/2009 18:34:22 249965 Link 0 |
The 3 girls broke a drinking ban rule (which by the way the entire team set for themselves). This rule has been enforced all year with the county and there has been no other problems with other girls been dropped for drinking so why should this change now? Everyone on a team needs to be treated equally and I think management did the right thing. The credibility in management would be lost if they suddenly changed the rules. Discipline was badly needed in this team and Hugh had the guts to follow throw with his threats. It's time to get out and support the ladies and build for championship! ben1234 (Cavan) - Posts: 1 - 07/04/2009 10:24:59 250503 Link 0 |
Great win for the county minors yesterday evening over Armagh. Well done to all involved. Cavan_Ned (Cavan) - Posts: 95 - 07/04/2009 10:55:56 250538 Link 0 |
I agree with the drinking ban and the discipline, that is definately needed for this team however I would have to disagree with it being in the papers for what ever reason, I don't think he should have aired this in public, I understand where he is coming from, rules are rules now whether the girls went about it the wrong way, i dunno but you can understand after winning an all ireland, you would like to have a few drinks, I have seen first hand with hugh that he doesn't mind having a few drinks but that your sensible...so whether they took it to far, hopefully lessons are learned and they can build for the championship, best of luck to them lilo84 (Cavan) - Posts: 13 - 07/04/2009 12:37:56 250682 Link 0 |

I have to say alot of people have no idea what they are talking about on the Cavan Ladies issue. The TEAM not HUGH DONNELLY made up the rules. The TEAM signed the rules each and every individual. Each girl said no drinking what so ever 10 days before a legaue game and 2 weeks before a championship game. Some girls asked what about if some had a 21st/wedding/engagement etc etc etc etc what were the exception. The TEAM comprehensively agreed that there would be NO EXCEPTIONS to the rules. as i said everyone signed the rules!!!!!! Another girl was penalised for drinkin and missed her chance to play in the Fermanagh game but for some reason because this girl isnt as well known there was no big issue!!!!! At the end of the day HUGH DONNELLY didn't stop any girl from starting on Sunday the girls did that themselves!! Why make rules if they are to be broken. Why should 32 girls not drink and im sure they had plenty of occassions when they wud have liked to drink. As far as i know the 3 girls have been trainin just as hard as the rest of the team and they accept what they did and are all for the team doin well and there are no bad feelings with them. So i think everyone just needs to get over it and let the girls prepare for the Championship. They dont need **** like this cropping up and distracting them. We need to all grow up and come and support the girls and show a bit of respect for them and their management. Cavman09 (Cavan) - Posts: 4 - 07/04/2009 14:46:08 250863 Link 0 |
