anyone any ideas on junior championship ??? Who will be two teams in final ? Laragh should beat Cornafean ,,, St. Finbarrs and Arva that will be a close one joan (Cavan) - Posts: 3 - 05/08/2008 16:38:04 66045 Link 0 |
Miwadi, in fairness to the county board, they get it very hard to get pitches. There is a lot of clubs who dont give their pitch for ladies games and even some of those that do dont confirm it till the last minute. In relation to the time, from what i hear it is usually the clubs who try and change the times of games for some reason or another. But i do agree with you, its hard to get a crowd to games in such circumstances Cavan_Ned (Cavan) - Posts: 95 - 06/08/2008 10:17:29 66425 Link 0 |

i heard the swad v shannon gaels final was tight to the end and a good match to watch. a cornafean supporter told me the ref was brutal though and some of his decisions could have changed the way the game came out!! luvthegaa (Cavan) - Posts: 30 - 06/08/2008 20:06:24 67158 Link 0 |

Now that the Ladies season is almost over I have a comment to make on the Junior Championship. Would the county board please stop allowing two clubs to amalgamate and still be in the Junior champ! If clubs want to join together they should be put into the Senior championship and see how they compete there, if they are not successful they would drop to intermediate and then junior if thats what level they are at. By allowing these superteams into the junior champ it is so disheartening for those genuine junior teams who have been trying to win the champ for years with players brought through from underage at their own club. The longer this practice is allowed to continue the more average players will be lost to the Ladies game. Surely the county boards duty is to encourage girls to keep playing football at their own clubs and not rewarding clubs that are on a glory hunt for medals and so take the easy option of joining with another club. I have seen girls stop playing because they didnt get a look in at the new superclubs. Rosie8 (Cavan) - Posts: 19 - 16/10/2008 16:22:40 120547 Link 0 |
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but the best players are not on the county(alot are), but everyone should be invited for trials not just the leading clubs or the players from the club of the manager and all given the opportunity, even if they are not up to the standard it is nice to have a shot at it. As for Eamon Lynch the reports I have from players and from experience is that his ONLY words of advice in 07 were "we are team players and winners, come on cavan" inspiring I must say .. .If it was not for hugh and luckily having enough quality players to pull it off they woul not of come out of Ulster . . . And loosing so many players and hugh in 08 is why they didn't even win Ulster and it was all down hill from there. cavan74 (Cavan) - Posts: 10 - 17/10/2008 05:31:32 120916 Link 0 |
There were 8 teams in this years Junior Championship, Arva, Belturbet, Cornafean, Drumlane, Killenkere, Laragh, Mountnugent and St Finbars. None of these are amalgamations. I presume you are suggesting that Arva are an amalgamation. This is not the case. There were 5 girls from Killeshandra on the Arva panel this year but that is not considered an amalgamation. The rule states that if there is no team in a ladies club at a certain age level that up to a maximum of 5 players can seek permission to play with a neighbouring club for that grade only. (i know thats not the exact words of the rule but its something like that). All of those permission requests are passed at county board meetings and i happened to be at the one this was discussed at and as far as i can remember there were no objections to these 5 girls getting permission to play with Arva so if you have a problem with that maybe its the county board delegates from your own club you should take issue with for not objecting.
