any word on the minor fixtures? i heard that mountbellew/moylough are home to headford in their first game. i saw in the headford notes in the herald that they were playing caherlistrane in a challenge yesterday evening. they are obviously wasting no time in their preperations for the new season.

Headford hammered caherlistrane 3-14 to 1-5 in a challenge last night!!and did so missing some key players and also lost full back pat joyce to injury!!very good performance and possibly a sign that headford are ready to make the step up and challenge corofin and claregalway for silverwar this year!!

Headford bet a bad B team, so what nothing compared to what A is going to be like. It was there first outing this year but still nothing to boast about.

im sick and tired of reading on this how GREAT headford are. They bet caherlistrane in a friendly where e.monahan and s.bohan were carrying injuries, d.higgins was also injured after JSC match and they are the only 3 overage next year. they also had 6/7 u15/16 playing. . headford will give it a shot this year in A but they will win no silverware simple as that.

galwaymaster11 you are a very bitter caherlistrane man however i would agree that the headford lad that put up the earlier message should not get carried away by a challenge game against a very poor caherlistrane team.

This forum is full with people from headford who do nothing but talking about how good their minors are. The reality is there out of their depth in A. They wouldn't win B. im fed up of hearing how good headford are when there not.

lads dont worry, all headford have to look forward to after their minor days is Junior football. They are always full of talk but let them have their day because two years down the line they wont have much to be talking about

Well northern headford have been talking themselves up for the last three years or so maybe longer :

-In 2006 there was alot of talk about them winning the lot and going A, so much for that
-In 2007 it was the same story and in fairness they reached a county final only to be hammered by a spiddal team who did not make much headway in A
-In 2008 they finally made it up through the league

Not very convincing for a team who are considered too good for B and now thought to be good enough to win silverware in A.
They are a good team and I wish them luck because it would be nice to see a smaller club do well but they are no where near as good as alot especially on this site.

thats an interesting statement to make considering headford didnt even field a minor team in the league in 2006. why would they have expected to go up to A that year.

in 2007 they won the championship with 11 players still underage for 2008.
in 2008 they won the league with 10 players still underage for 2009.
both very good achievements.

My apologies manager5 that was a mistake although i wonder then why they did consider themselves to be so good.

As for underage players thats normal for all small clubs just look around.

Once again i am not targetting the club as i believe they are a good bunch of players what i am saying is that they are average and not as good as people are saying !

majority of people hyping headford on this thread are not from headford. am sure they know themselves how tough its going to be up in A, GIVE THEM A BREAK,

Lads what do you think of Salthills chances in Minor this year??
This team has been good throughout the years and only lost to Kilallin by 3 points in u16 2 years ago...have good players like Conor O'Halloran,Brian Conlon,Tadgh Haran and Ronan Conlon, dont be surprised if they are dark horses in the west.....

i wouldnt agree that they are average. they have a very good team but the fact is that there are better teams in the division in claregalway and corofin. can we get some talk going about these teams? who are their best players and have they any players out injured?

Claregalway: Have alot of talented players but need more dedication. Lack star county players.
Corofin: Star player is fading and we all know who that is. They play in the shadow of last years minor teams.
Tuam: Few decent players but lack team cohesion. Bad player development in that club.
Headford: Couple very talented hard working players but not big enough squad.
MB: Lighting forwards but can be too greedy. Will be threat but have faded in big days.
Kilanin: Good core set of players. Strong committed panel but need favourable home draws to go all the way.
Salthill: Fancy dans may have the ideal phyisques but cant compete at championship intensity.

County Championship Contenders: Killanin, MB and Claregalway
Dark Horses: Corofin and Tuam
Improving Quickly: James and Headford
