BEST stadium in the country?

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

being from laois i will have to discuss o moore park first and i have to say that parking will be a nightmare there now that the county council have sold the land around it ,that was used for paking during matches, for developement.
croker is one of the best stadium in europe-very spacious...but thurles is legendary for me as every time i go there the matches have been epic!

Has to be Croker. Thomond pk would be second. Thurles has a decent atmosphere but it's a hole. Gaelic grounds in Limerick worth a mention.

i take it you havent been to the gaelic grounds then? I dont knwo where this misconception comes from that its a "great stadium"!!
Its a kip
If there is one thing worse than standing in the rain...its sitting in the rain! if they knew they couldnt put a roof on it, then terrace it, Dont put a stand in there with no roof! IDIOTS! How Irish!!!
Croker is the best, by a million miles! Thurles is also a super stadium. Killarney is a proper staium also. Cork isnt bad. Salthill and Kingspan deserve mentions. Longford too. Clones is a grand job.

Croker, Thurles,Killarney, Salthill and hopefully Hyde Park in the future. Thomond Park? Too small.

Liam ok you have a point about sitting in the rain. But thurles? It's a hole aswell. No comfort whatsoever. Remember being at a double header there years ago when I was a lad. By god that was painful.

Agree with the first two Daytona... but the gaelic grounds is a terrible stadium **** covered stand (better view from the terrace), ok they've improved the pitch itself decent surface now... they should have knocked the stadium to the ground and started again one of my least favourite grounds.

fitzgerald park in killarney is a hole: 1. Croke Park (Even though you dont get a good view from the hill, but still go there anyway) 2. Thurles (Good all round stadium) 3. Cork (The terraces are the best in Ireland) 4. Limerick (has gotten better, parking *****, Liamwalkinstown thats why its called an uncovered stand dah) they rest are fairly poor compared to the four above.

Well it's not the Ritz or the Hilton but I think it's fine. Could be better, could be worse. Wouldn't call it a hole. They're doing it up soon as well. Always a great place for a Cork-Kerry Munster final on a hot day! 3 terraces, uncovered, and 1 stand, covered. Right in the middle of town as well.

Sure what more do you want???

Not fond of Healy Park or ballybofey. A packed Clones is the most enjoyable atmosphere in the world, much more craic than Croker. Not the greatest facilities but the atmosphere and memories more than make up for it.

3inarow08 i aploigise i was at a couple of munster finals there and had some good banter there. suppose cant be too bad if there are some decent concerts there over the summer.

But it is like many other GAA stadiums in need of a bit of TLC.

Croke Park is the best stadium, but then again it is the national stadium, shame they never got to finish Croke Park, the open end at Hill 16 seems like a throw back to the dark ages.

paddyogall..Not until its up-dated that it can be mentioned in all fairness. Its in a fair state now and improvement is badly needed.

What do most people think of Pearse Stadium??I for one think is a great pitch for playing and watching in.A lot of Mayo people disagree.Any views on it?

the one drawback on croker is the fact that its situated in a..shall we say rather disadvantaged area. i have frequently had to pay sum person a tenner to 'look after' my car,the only reason i gave it to them is because o ne time my friend didnt pay up and came out of the match to find his tyres slashed!you wudnt get that carry on anywhere else in ireland!

Obviously Croker is ten million lightyears ahead from the rest but on a county ground level from where ive been to games...

The Good are: Pearse Stadium Galway, O'Connor Park Tullamore, Healy Park Omagh and Gaelic Park New York .

The Not Bad-Not Great: Semple Stadium Thurles, Gaelic Grounds Limerick, Pairc Tailteann Navan, Dr Cullen Park Carlow, O'Moore Park Portlaoise, Pairc Ui Caoimh Cork, Fitzgerald Stadium Killarney, Casement Park Belfast, Nowlan Park Kilkenny, Parnell Park Dublin and McCumhaill Park Ballybofey.

The Pug Ugly: Tuam Stadium, Markievic Park Sligo and whatever its called in Crossmaglen.

Havent been to the rest so shall not comment!
