The Ultimate Club

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

Surely this accolade has to be given to Edgeworthstown. It is the only Club in the County that competes and excels at all sports. In hurling they have won the u-16, minor & senior - they even won the first round of the Leinster championship. In football they have gained promotion to Div 1, they dethroned the County Champions and now they are in the u-21 final, they also won a title at schoolboy level and probably others that I am not sure of. In ladies football they reached a number of county finals at junior and underage level. They also compete very well at Scor.
This parish has to be the opitomy of all that the GAA stands for - fair play to all involved.

Relax there dwinkle will ya! You might be getting carried away a little. Ultimate club, in fairness your opponents in the u21 final would fit the bill better but any such talk of ultimate clubs should be saved for when someone achieves something outside teh county....And i mean winning the leinster, not jus a round or two!!

I wouldn't go out on a limb and say who I think the best club in the county is but you would have to admire Mostrim beecause they do seem to get the best out of their resourses. I've always admired dromard as a footballing club aswell besause they are to my mind anyway the only club in the County that enters teams in every grade without takeing advantage of the system e.g, their division 6 team is precisely that, a division 6 team and they're junior team is a junior team unlike a lot of clubs, Colmcille, Ratchcline and even Killoe who choose to enter their intermediate teams in the grade. This type of action causes less talented players, if that is fair to say, drift away from the game when really we should be encourageing as many people as possible to get involved regardless of winning trophies.

Moydow Harpers surely has to be considered in the quest to find the ultimate club, they may not win alot but everyone has fun.

Try winning the senior football championship, junior football championship, minor football championship, ladies senior football championship, senior hurling championship,U-21 hurling championship, Div 1 league and the Leader Cup in the one year. That would prob be the ultimate club. So only club that springs to mind in winning all that would be Clonguish!!!

slashers are obviously the ultimate club when they have far more honours at senior and underage levels, and i'm an abbey man!!! take a bow lads!! i can't see why slashers can't dominate for the next 10 years!! what other club would get offered nearly 30million for their grounds??...rest my case

Longford Slashers don't have the most county titles won in Longford. They do if you add in the other clubs who won it ie. Wanderers, Leo Caseys, Shamrocks. So Longford Slashers themselves haven't the most county titles won!!!!

Spinx, what exactly is your problem with slashers?? any post i seem to look at your on it shouting your mouth off about them?im not even a slashers man and i have no problem with them, any of them i know seem to be a nice bunch of lads...nd i have to laugh at your comment that good ould slashers drink themeslfs stupid and make fools of themselfs, you would swear that no other club players drink in this county!! are you delusional??you must think every footballer in this county goes off the drink for the whole season so ya??you must be the role model for all young gaa players to follow!!
