New Meath Jersey for Christmas market?

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

so basically you like the crest the way it is but you dont like others liking it because it means nothing to them. so what do you want to do. keep it because you like it or get rid of it because it dosnt mean anything to others. make up your mind.

what do crests or historic names (like the royals) mean to other county that they dont to meath

tbh the crest is fine and we just need a good jesey design

I think people whould decide what matters to them and that should be represented in the crest. I don't the things on the crest matter to the majority of people in county so i think they should think up a new crest rather than walk around croke park like hypocrites pretending they do matter. My mind was made up long ago.
I don;t think our footballers will be running up and down the hill of tara ever again - its importance seems to have been eroded.
Lets change our name to road county while we're at it

"I think people whould decide what matters to them and that should be represented in the crest"

theres 160000 people living in meath. we cant put in what everyone wants.

so what would you want rinami. you never answered last time. if we are to take historic things out of the crest, what do we put in instead, any ideas???

I am a proud Meathman. I don't feel you can compare our county to other counties as the legacy we have recieved is unique in ireland. Our county has been populated from the earliest times and contains some of the most impressive remains of early man anywhere in the world. It's places and people are central to our country's legends and history. Meath is ireland's Valley of The Kings, Ireland's Rome, Ireland's Athens. It is the cradle of irish civilization.
I find these things and facts inspiring. They give us huge reasons to be proud and reasons to walk with our chests out. I think our footballers have drawn strength from this in the past just as they have from having the honour of being the "Royal County".
Don't misrepresent me by saying I am confused or telling me to make my mind up. I know what I feel and think and I will not apologise for those things nor will i contradict them. But i think people who are indifferent to all thesae wonderful things do not deserve to wear symbols of them upon their chests. I do not think people who say things like " tara or any of that rubbish!!! " are true men of the Royal County.
And for those of you who feel this is an inappropriate forum for this kind of debate well I think you fail to grasp what the GAA is about. It is about preserving what is uniquely special about our irishness - that is why we have clubs called after our heroes, why we preserve our language and traditions - because we are more than a sporting organisation.
I think you should take responsibility for the symbols you wear, I think you whould wear your heart on your sleeve, I don;t think its right to boast of a legacy you fail to protect.
You might as well wear a pioneer badge and go off to the pub and get locked as wear our current crest given your indifference or opposition to the issues I have raised.
I don;t care what crest you wear but don't dodge the fact that its hypocritical to wear the current crest given whats goin on in the boyne valley. I feel embarrassed by all the people in Meath who seem to know the price of everything but the value of nothing. I'm embarrassed by the fact that nobody on this forum seems to feel the same. Your short sighted, your arguments are crass and lazy and you're poor excuses for Meathmen

Okay so, whats this thread about again? oh yeah...the new meath jersey.

To conclude, the new meath jersey will be made out of grass from tara and come with a free chain so you can lock yourself to some road works machinery, however before you receive your jersey you have to pass a history test to prove you are a true royal (living in meath your whole life does not qualify you).

How does that sound Rinami? You have the final word, since you are King of Meath.

This thread is about football,a new county shirt and the missed oppertunity from the county board to make a few shillings by cashing in on the x mas market...Not motorways ...gtf

Fabio - you simpleton, you could live all your life in a stable and that wouldn't make you a horse. If anybody on this forum ever uses the phrase "pride in the jersey" I'll puke.
You're an embarrassment and the type of person who has this country destroyed - youpve no obligations to anyone or anything but yourself. You want to talk about a new jersey but yet don't feel we should discuss whats appropriate given whats going on in the county at the moment. and jacky jack, No surprise you brought up the "few shillings" either. Are your people from Cavan ?
Why wont you directly take on what i;ve said rather than make snide remarks and repeat that this thread is about the jersey?
Well lets broaden it and talk about what being a proud meath man entails, what being a GAA member entails.
If it all doesn;t matter than wear a dress to croke park. The county's obviously gone backwards from the sophisticated people who built newgrange to the cavemen of today

Okay so Rinnami, you want to use the new meath jersey as means of protesting against the placement of the N3?

your dancing around the question. what would you like to see in the crest that wouldnt be hypocritical for everyone?

tbh there's nothing else

your rant about us being better than the other 31 countys is wrong. countys are invisible lines. they mean nothing. we can only truely be proud to be irish

I'm merely making the point that it represents gross hypocrisy to wear something that boasts of a heritage that you are happy to destroy. Don't you get that? Do others not see this?

I didn't say better, just a unique position given the depth of heritage in the county. These are things that the whole country can take pride in but the fact is that we are responsible for them as locals and if we don;t value them then they are screwed. And if we don;t them value as a community then lets not pretend we do.

The jersey isnt out yet, just look at the names of the 2 "fans" who say the have bought theirs.
Its gonna be in the shops in the 2nd week of february. Unfortunatly we wont have it for going to cork, but what can we do. Would be no harm tho if they released a few pics at least.
