Please God it doesn't look like that near t-shirt effort the jacks brought out. I'd be worried about this, O'Neills usually work of the same format and change the colours to suit.

dubs jerseys are usually out on there own when it comes to design id be looking at the new Mayo jersey and think our new on would be designed similar to that

Yeah ours ar generally similar style to mayos or clares. Altho the new offaly & down jerseys are also pretty plain, maybe they are goin for a bit of a traditional look.
Hope the get it out soon. Anyone know why its such a big secret with oneills? Ive contacted them a few times but they wont give anything away.

I agree on the fact that the fans should have more of an input. There should be suggestions put forward to the type of seign put on them.As Meath is the heritage capital of ireland we should have more than enough historic monuments to have reflected on the jersey. It can show other counties that we are proud of Meath right down to the bone!!I know the crest has got this already but could a simple celtic deign on the sleeves or a watermarked monument on the back be used...just an idea!! "

I agree that all our historic granduer should be represented on our jersies but only if thats what we value as Meath People. Great treasures like the loughcrew cairns, knowth and dowth, tara brooch, book of kells, newgrange and of course the Hill Of Tara. But much to my disgust it would appear that people within in the county don't value those things. They have elected representatives who have carved a scar through a landscape our ancestors considered to be sacred. I'm no tree hugging hippy, i'm a die hard meath fan who loves being from Meath and is proud of all that history.

I hope the administrator doesn't edit this message. I think its legitimate of me to ask -is it hypocritical of us to wear something which boasts of our pride in our history and then drive home on something that destroys it?

Speak up on this issue or at least have the decency to pin your colours to the mast and ask that our crest just has a motorway and a clock on it because a big road and a bit of time saved seem to be the most important things these days

The "Save Tara Campaign" has made it to Hoganstand

I'm not part of any campaign, the only flag i have ever waved in my whole life is the meath flag. It just depresses me for people to go on about pride in the jersey when actually its seems the things on the jersey mean nothing to them.
Yeah i think we should save tara and you should save your sneers for yourself. If you;ve something to say about my comments well say something specific

Its a meath jersey not a scrap book of the ancient history of meath. The crest at the moment is fine. Meath won all the all irelands wearing green and gold so as long as the colour stays the same Im happy. Don't have a clue what you're talking about when you were on about pride in the jersey, the legends who wore the jersey would come to mind when i think of pride not some mound of rocks, book or jewelery. I don't think people from louth get goosebumps all over when they think about the boyne cable bridge or lads from armagh start reminiscing everytime they have an apple.

Anyway back on topic, rumour has it its going to be the same design as the dubs jersey. Which should be interesting

Who went off topic? By your rationale we shouldn;t have a crest if it doesn't matter

Was talkin to an oneills rep over the weekend & he claimed it was the same design as the int rules jersey, only the main color was green with the narrow swirly lines are yellow. Sounds nice if thats the case, but dunno how true it is seeing as he didnt even know when its coming out.
It should really be out now tho cos the league is starting in less than 2 weeks.

RiNaMi i was purely remarking that the debate to prevent the motorway has found its way to HS. That's not a sneer, it's a comment.

the stitching disign will be the same for all 32 countys. the 3 lines will be on the sleeves of all 32 countys. well sometimes armagh jerseys are disigned differently for some unknown reason. the design will be the same for most of the countys. i'd say no other jersey will be designed like the dubs as they never are. tbh the dubs design is nice. i wouldnt mind the meath jersey designed like it

and to anyone with doubts there is defiantly 150% a new meath jersy coming out. i thought it would have come out last year, but anyway about time as the current one is boring to look at

Thats kool and the gang royal_green, unlike ferguson lyons and o'malley, i apologise for my defensiveness. My central points are these - Should the Meath jersey have a crest and if so should it not feature things we really value. I;d appreciate people's views on this.
As a Meath fan living in dublin i've heard all kinds of insults hurled at our teams and supporters but not that of been hypocrites

There not always the same desigm.
Every county is unique to a cuple of minor details, like for example, the 7 stars on the back of the meath jersey, or the rocks on the back of the clare jersey & so on.

I see what ur saying tho about the basic design, it tends to be much similar ofr most, with alot of counties having the 3 stripes.
Dont think Monaghan, Roscommon, tipperary, leitrim, kilkenny, kildare or a few counties like that have them.

Anybody gotten any sound word on it tho?
Think people will end up getting carried away with their own ideas on here...

how does it not have things we value. it has hurls and a gaa football (as we are a gaa team), it has the bru na boinne (one of the most historical and important things in ireland and europe, it has the badge of tara(i think) and the symbol of our former provence. what else do you want in it ri-na-mi. they are some of the most important things in the countys history (what i named out)

Rinami, I never said we shouldn't have a crest, i said the crest we have at the moment is fine, I think its one of the best gaa crests out at the moment. As for who went off topic, this thread has nothing to do with the N3 and where they build it, Its about the new meath jersey, not tara or any of that rubbish!!! Stop moaning its a waste of your time,

I think thats plenty of things but i don;t think the county's population values them as evidenced by how the way the place where the king on crest lived is getting torn assunder. I think it represents gross hypocrisy

well what do you want on it rinami. what are your ideas that would mirror a modern meath or mean something. an estate???

I like it the way it is, I love the crest because i love the things on it. But when i'm at matches and see the crowds wearing the high king on their chests and shouting c'mon the royals, using all these symbols as badges of honour when in reality they mean sweet F.a to them it sticks in my craw. And Fabio, get off your high horse. You don't set the agendas here. It obvious what you think when you dismiss the importance of our heritage as " tara or any of that rubbish!!! ", The thread is about the jersey of which the crest is an integral part - i wasn;t the first to bring it up and am fully entitled to express my views which seem to make you uncomfortable. As for wasting my time - that charge could be levelled at anyone on this message board who proposes team selections etc
It seems to me that most people want to have their cake and eat it. I feel like a stranger in my own land. Maybe a housing estate would be a better and more honest reflection of the county today. True gaels are thin on the ground
