best gealic footballer to come out of tyrone

Niall McGinn would not have made the Tyrone panel, he would have got a run in the McKenna cup I'm sure but that would have likely have been his lot. So what about realistic contendors?

This is an very difficult question to answer given that we do not remember the playing days of so many greats. Iggy Jones, Paddy Corey, etc. In the recent generation you can't look past Peter Canavan and Sean Cavanagh and it would have to be Peter from those 2 at present.

Frank Mcguigan was a fine footballer, renowned all over Ireland, but the best player to come from Tyrone ever was a wee bald fella from ballygawley. Possibly the best footballer to ever lace a pair of boots. Magic man Canavan

I would have to make an argument for eugene mc kenna and this is not favourtism or bias as he played for my club but i genuinely think he was an amazing player.

I opt for Peter the Great! How many All Ireland winners were ever saluted in that fashion by the President on the steps of the Hogan Stand? Michael O'Muirehuirtaigh (excuse the spelling) didn't even bother with his surname when commentating. That says it all!! In saying that McKenna, O'Hagan, Jones , Devlin, McCabe, Dooher and of course McGuigan (Frank) are all worthy contenders. Sean Cavanagh will possibly surpass them all by the time his career is over..hopefully with a load more all-irelands in his possession! But for now still opt for Peter

Know exactly where you are coming from umpire. Cormac clocked up some array of medals during his all too short career. Ultimately that's the problem as we'll never know just to what heights he would have got. He certainly had it all.
