Louth minor squad for 2009

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

Holcraft is an excellent player and was asked to be on the minor team last year. The fact and only reason he wasnt included is that the chap himself didnt want to play as he couldnt give the full commitment which is fair enough, same as willy woods, he would have been on the team aswell but decided to give soccer his full commitment instead.

Anyway that was last year hopefully this year well do well and get behind the manager altho the dubs will be a tough test no doubt.

agree holcorft is a good player but you also have to take into account who he would have been playin against in the Minor team - have you ever seen him play against good man markers he is not able to score they way he did in the under 21 final - take the minor league final against the geraldines, he had great difficulty that night scoring becuase the defender knew what he was going to do each time. no doubt he is a great player but like alot of players in the Junior league it depends what opposition you are up against and he is not the type of player that will be able to preform every match.

Very strong players in the squad including E. O Neill, B. Hamilton, C. Bellew, R. Holdcroft, S. Cairns, R. Moore, R. Mc Donald. So they should do something dis year....

Joes9606
No Plunketts lads on your starting 15 or subs ??????
Would seem strange given their strength at this age group.

re joe. i wonder why you have sansom as goalkeeper. maybe its because he's from the joes just like you?? richie mc donnell is a great goalie and played very well with brigdets under 21 this year. pity he plays with the fechins and not clogher! joe, i'd say your on the minor team or have close links to someone who's on it. so get a life and stop posting what the team should be.

Peter. Unfortunately I'm a bit 'auld in the tooth' for minors but I do follow the joes as name suggests.
McDonnell is a very good keeper but I feel Sansom is better.
Only my opinion.

Drog Gael. Plunketts have been strong at this level all through but none of them stood out in this years minor championship.
Again just my opinion.

joes lad get a grip. your trying to suggest that 80% of the louth minor team for next year should be from north louth. Now dont try to accuse me of stoking the flames of the north south divide but surely there are players in the drogheda area well capable of being on that team. plunketts lads for example.

Joes9606, If you are telling the truth about following the Joes, Why have you Mark Neary, A Forward at half back? Why have you Alan Mc Kenna on the bench when after D.Mulligan was the Joe's best player this year at Senior Level. I agree R.Samson is a great GK but he wont get on because his kick out's are awful imo.

Joes alright. Neary wont get his place in the forwards but I still think hes good enough to be on team so squeezed him in at half back. McKenna has played & scored well in Intermediate but always seems disinterested at minor. Maybe that'll change because he definetly has ability. I've been at the games so am not talking bull. If any one is hard done by on my team I think its Cluskey but hes been hampered by injury. Dont think Sansoms ko is that bad and theres not a great deal of keepers around at this age. Name a better side.

Don't know if its true but heard practically the whole Plunketts and Bridgets minor team might be in doubt this year because of soccer? If the sources are right they'l be a big loss for Louth and the talent in the South. Im sure they both won a few Championships and Leagues since underage.

You don't know what your talking about, saying the Joes are poor at under-age.

This year U-16 Division 1 League Champions, Lost in championship to eventual winners.
U-18 Division 2 League Finalists, Only lost by 1point in 1/4final Championship.

Of that minor team only 3 players cannot play next year.

Add these under-age teams to the fact that they had C.Lynch 20, K.Woods 20, A.Cluskey 17, J.Murtagh 22, A.McKenna 17, D.Smyth 19, M.McArdle 22, D. Mulligan 20, P.Mulligan 21 all playing some part in the championship. Not bad for a team you say are always poor under-age.
Add T.Smyth 22, T.Yore 22, C.Smyth 20 who were all out for one reason or another over the year.
That would be 12 players all under 22, so get your facts straight.

What's the point in saying things, you obviously have no clue about?

how fare do use wreckon our minors can do this year ?With Dublin at the first stepping stone it will be hard for them. If the lads perform on the day and beat them, they could go the whole way and do the business. Any thoughts ?

Louth may well beat Dublin however it's hard to look past Meath this year, they've a serious team coming through and will be tough beat

I hope your right about Dublin Blueisthecolour but my contacts down there tell me they think this is their best team in last 10 years and they feel they can win the All Ireland this year. If thats the case this years crew will have their work cut out but lets all get behind them and hopefully they can do us proud.
