Ok then, calling all you experts and pundits out there. What will be the outcome of this years league final between the newly crowned County Champions Glencar Manor and the consistant underachievers of Melvin Gaels? Leitrim Lad (Leitrim) - Posts: 264 - 25/11/2008 13:54:52 149382 Link 0 |
Cracking game in prospect. I would think Manor should have the edge on fitness, but a real once off in prospect is this the first ever all North Leitrim senior final? Manor by 4 in the replay. The chances of Geals finishing with full quota fairly slim. bugsie (Leitrim) - Posts: 199 - 25/11/2008 17:17:25 149694 Link 0 |
i have to give Melvin the nod, i think manor wont be able to cope with mulligans accuracy from frees and clinical finishing and they have Emlyn too. cartman.. (Leitrim) - Posts: 143 - 25/11/2008 20:01:27 149844 Link 0 |
Why do you say that bugsie? How many red cards have gaels got this year. johnnos bulls (None) - Posts: 527 - 26/11/2008 09:33:40 150116 Link 0 |
Would think Manors fitness should just give them the edge. And the thought of the Gaels driving through the town with the cup if they won SeanMacDiarmada (Leitrim) - Posts: 420 - 26/11/2008 14:08:51 150431 Link 0 |
I think the Gaels will win it by 2 points. Mulligan, Rego, 2 Phelans, Fabian,Mc Sharry, BB - a lot of good players smokinjoe (Leitrim) - Posts: 126 - 26/11/2008 14:58:41 150494 Link 0 |
I dont know how many red cards geals have had this year. We were asked to give our opinion, and my opinion is that Manors fitness and discipline will be better and to give them the edge in a really close game. I am sorry if this offends, sounds like a geals man getting excited to me. bugsie (Leitrim) - Posts: 199 - 26/11/2008 15:35:02 150540 Link 0 |
leave him alone bugsie,he has to get the "high quality H2O" ready for sunday.best of luck johnos bulls.... cartman.. (Leitrim) - Posts: 143 - 26/11/2008 21:26:38 150847 Link 0 |
I also think there would be great craic if the geals stopped in Manor after the match. There is no anomosity of the pitch and the Kinlough lads gave Manor great support at the championship semi and Final. Both teams will meet in Drumkeerin first in what will be a great day for North Leitrim football. bugsie (Leitrim) - Posts: 199 - 27/11/2008 13:25:54 151363 Link 0 |
Hopefully the game goes off without any controversy and the best team wins. I'll be cheering for my home club, Melvin Gaels, but if Manor are better on the day and win then I can assure you I will congratulate them afterwards. God this board is pure drivel these days. Expect a good game with manor shading it. Think both defences will be under pressure and interesting to see how they cope. Ps Why would anyone want to stop in drumkeerin on the way. Possibly one of my least favourite places in the world. Perhaps the pub before drumshambo in arigna. It seems like a really good spot, just not sure as to which to door to go through. johnnos bulls (None) - Posts: 527 - 28/11/2008 12:25:35 152338 Link 0 |
johnno your obviously a racist! Drumkeerin people are people too.It also contains one of the best petrol wateringholes in the world possibly. You aren't seriously considering stopping in Roscommon. I am not a racist but...... bugsie (Leitrim) - Posts: 199 - 28/11/2008 14:08:01 152428 Link 0 |
I think the mulligan twins will run riot against a medioker full back line of manors, and Colin Regan will add a bit of glamour to the whole thing. cartman.. (Leitrim) - Posts: 143 - 28/11/2008 18:10:04 152689 Link 0 |
one could suspect that if manor give the mulligan twins the space in the forward line they will get severely punished. although o flynn had a good county final on o connor it will be hard to see how he is going to handle the power, pace and accuracy of Blaine Mulligan.. one could suspect if blaine produced the goods on saturday we could be looking for a possible replacement for donal brennan! serious talent but his temperment gets the better of him from time to time!!!! melvin gaels by 2!!! yes the wee man has a lot of rage and anger inside him from all those years of living in Emlyn's shadow, but he has come on leaps and bounds this year,a real workhorse who will run at manor and use his physicality to break them down. doesnt get as much credit as his flashy brother, but in my opinion is the superior twin. cartman.. I reckon Glencar/Manor will win definately but then again Melvin Gaels are roaring hot favourites ShanvausMan (Leitrim) - Posts: 24 - 03/12/2008 17:53:59 156162 Link 0 |
Who requested the postponement of this game? I presume it was Melvin gaels seeing as Glencar Manor played a championship game the next day! Leitrim Lad (Leitrim) - Posts: 264 - 04/12/2008 16:14:34 156979 Link 0 |
There was a bereavement in the manor club SeanMacDiarmada (Leitrim) - Posts: 420 - 04/12/2008 18:41:03 157178 Link 0 |
Why did they not postpone the U21 match also then? Sounds as if it suited Manor not to play the League Final at the weekend! Leitrim Lad (Leitrim) - Posts: 264 - 05/12/2008 09:24:46 157540 Link 0 |
The breavement was Kieran Fox's mother as he is part of the Senior Panel it would seem apt to postpone the game. She also taught in St. Clares Comprehensive so no doubt a few of the Melvin Gaels more senior players and mentors may have been taught by her. Honestly do not think Manor were trying to get out of anything. liatroim abu (Leitrim) - Posts: 30 - 05/12/2008 13:50:14 157865 Link 0 |
