Will they come back up next year? Will intermediate hurling prove too easy?

Any team that thinks it easy to get out of intermediate are kidding themselves. As this is about Ballinderreen i will talk about them. Ballinderreen did manage to come out of Intermediate last time they were down there but i am sure they really pulled together in the club to achieve this and put a savage amount of work in. The first year in Intermediate is properly the best year to try come out of it as this usually involves a club pulling together with the same goal, get back Senior. This has been proven many times with Kilmordaly being the lastest to date to do this. Problem is if not achieved in first year or two there is a chance of the club lowering their expectations of the team and alass they stay where they are. Personally I think Ballinderreen have what it takes to come back up as they were unlucky in the end to be fighting relegation with 3 points scored in the group stages. But one thing is for sure, ITS NOT EASY!

I have to agree with WhatsItAllAbout there. Abbeyknockmoy,Leitrim-Kilna, Abbey Duniry, Kilconiron, Meelick Eyrecourt, Maybe Rahoon and the two who come down are the only ones who have a realistic chance of gaining promotion in any year. It is the most open Championship in Galway. Look at this year, who would have expected Cappa to win this championship after a lax enough group stages effort. It is all on the day with the right attitude and bit of luck. Ballinderreen could find themselves in the same boat as all of the above or maybe they will bounce back but I think Turlough deserve to go down aswell......Coz they are such a nice bunch of lads!! LOL

ballindereen should deffinetly come up next year along with leitrim although as we saw wit leitrim and anadoghn and cappy and killiomardaly that any thing can happen on ny given day.

Kevin Coen will lead Ballindereen back to the promised land of senior hurling,.. he is a super captain.. hes gratuating from college this year and this will be of great benefit to his hurling..

Ballindereen will bounce straight back up I'd say. Trouble is they seem to be in relegation bother every year at senior so they might go straight back down again. What odds on Noel Lane giving them a helping hand?

they'll make sure they have that right for next year with ballindereen Intermediate 2010 because theres only one team coming up! eyrecourt although alot are saying pearses but theres more chance of me licking my elbow!

I hear Ballinderreen have a lot of injuries at present and are missing few players for other reasons so they may not find their group games too easy. Otherwise I would expect a full strength b'derreen team to win intermediate.

If you seen the game, he got a belt as he was trying to block down one of the Ballinderreen backs. I'd love to know what other players you're talking about?

abadref I was at the match and the incident you are talking about was completely accidental. He blocked the ball away as a Ballindereen player was about to strike and the hurl followed though and hit him in the head. It happened in the 1st half and the lad played on for the rest of the game. Poor lad though but fair play to him for playing on and playing well!
