Ireland's Call

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

Its easy to see who the followers of soccer and rugby are on this site. If they were not followers of these foreign sports they would leave the National Anthem alone. Irelands Call will never replace it. Some of the morans playing on the English soccer team would not even know the words of their own Anthem.

That song is the most embarrasing thing I have heard since all that s*** that used to be written about Jack Charlton. For heavens sake just look at the French team when the Marseillaise is being played, the pride that pumps through their veins is clear to see and gives them a real lift, even the jocks do it and they aren't even a nation! So come on and drop this dross once and for all before we start to lose our identity altogether.

JohnMitchel. On your theory the British and Irish Lions should HAVE to sing God Save The Queen

Its even easier to see bitter fools Cavan_Slasher, in any case its totally irrelevant who supports what in this sort of argument. Im a GAA fan first, Rugby second and id put boxing and darts ahead of football (soccer if it pleases you, doesn't both me either way). You've just made yet another totally porous, pointless comment, you'd want to start thinking things through a little better before you make stupid comments.

JohnMitchel

I can't really single out any one thing you said in your comment because the whole thing was an obnoxious, ignorant rant. It was notably closed minded and dictatorial which really begs the question, are you Sarah Palin? and if so what the hell do you know about anything in general?

On the other hand its nice to see a few people here do understand why Irelands CAll is necessary even if they don't like the song, good post about that by the way Liam and thank you evangelist you seem to have the head screwed on aswel.

The English are known for their tolerance and championing of the underdog, and find nationalism distasteful, as it smacks of arrogance and "we are the chosen people" type of thing.

Hence little support for the BNP, little or no demonstration on St George's day.

Paradoxically, it appears that it is ONLY the moronic few, the hooligan element, who actually do know the words of the anthem.

Ye would want to get ye're heads out of the clouds, or go back to singing rebel songs and brit bashing. Cos thats the real reason behind this, even if you wont admit it.

Thats BS Liamo. Just because a fella says Irelands call is a s**t song, which indeed it is, does not make him a brit hater, more perhaps of a music lover.

Can i just ask you hipster, if there was a very strong gale outside what side of the fence would you fall on?, because you really didn't give us any indication with that comment.

Htaem, I think i am the one who is being honest in this argument. You say you put G.A.A. first !! Well i doubt that big time !!

Another thing your calling people "ignorant" and "obnoxious" says more about you and your opinions because if you have to again resort to those sort of comments you lose out in any argument !!!

Another ridiculous comment Slasher, why would i even bother lying about my sport preferences it has nothing to do with my opinion on nationl anthems. Just for the record ive been to over 40 GAA matches (not a great tally compared to many people on HS im sure) compared to only 7 rugby games and ive never been to a professional soccer match (because i support Real Madrid and its too expensive to attend matches in Spain).

I was refering to JohnMitchels comment when i used the words "obnoxious" and "ignorant" and i fully stand by those words because i feel he was bang out of order with his out dated and highly uncompromising attitude. Plus this has nothing to do with winning or losing an arguemt because we both know that no matter what either of us says to one another, neither of us are going to change our opinions. The only difference is that im right, your wrong.

Hipster, where did i say that i had a problem with the English people.? This argument is about the playing of Irelands call instead of our N.A.

Htaem, You have as much right to be wrong as i have to be right !! You do however need to tone down the abuse of other posters because when you use insults you diminish the strength of your argument. Irelands Call will never replace the real thing and why should it. You cannot force a replacement Anthem on the people. !!

The rightful anthem that the majority want is played only at home matches whereas Irelands Call(joke) is played at all matches ?? wheres the sense in that. If IC has to be played at all , it should only be home matches , with the proper anthem played at all games rather than the current joke of a setup
