JUST A REPLY TO THE LAST FEW POSTS BLANEY NEVER RECEIVED 11 RED CARDS AND ON THE BLANEY TEAM THIS LAST 6 TO 8 WEEKS TRAINED ONLY ON FRIDAY NIGHTS AND TOOK 2 WEEK BREAK AFTER LATTON GAME. KEITH HILL LIAM MC ELORY DARREN DALY STEPHAN LYNCH BRIAN MC GUINNESS AND MARK LOUGHMAN R ALL MEMBERS OF THE B PANEL AND PLAYED NO SENIOR CHAMPIONSHIP FOOTBALL THIS YEAR ON THE RED CARDS WERE ALL RECIEVED AFTER THE CHAMPIONSHIP WAS FINNISHED AND SOME WERE QUESTIONABLE DECISIONS AS A BLANEY MAN CARRACK WON BECAUSE WE DIDI NT LEARN FROM THE LATTON GAME AND TO FAIR CARRACK WELL DONE AND ON FRANK GET THE FACTS RIGHT AS U SEEM TO BE A MOLE IN THE COUNTY BOARD WHO HAS TO GET THE NEWS OUT ON ALL MATTERS FIRST ( BIG WOMEN )
Fair play to Carrick. They are following the blueprint laid down by Latton, Magheracloone and Clontibret in the last 10 years. Take the league seriously and try and win it. The reason behind this is simple. In order to get to a league final you have to have come in the top 4 and therefore must have beaten most of the teams in the division thus giving confidence. So when you face these teams in knock out games be it league or championship you are aware that they are no better than you. I would agree with Frank's assessment of who will be the "haves" and "havenots" in enior next year. Truagh haven't got the firepower to stay up and Ballybay haven't got the strength in depth. Inniskeen left their football in Croke Park and the County Board can't save Scotstown forever.

I'd like to take u up on 2 things. Firstly last night may have been a perfect night for watching football, I'd say it was hardly perfect for playing, a heavy late November pitch and a stiff cross breeze. Watch Cross and Ballinderry on Sunday and I'd say u will hardly see a classic either. Winter football tends to be low scoring dour stuff but in my opinion great to watch, so its tough to say that hardly anyone played up to their potential.
Seeing as you took me up on this, I decided to let you know that this game was a far better game to watch than the final on Wednesday night last. I only said the final was poor, it doesnt have to be taking as a bad reflection on either side
Secondly I don't think freddie was using the absence of all the Blayney players as an excuse for losing last night. Earlier on in the thread u wondered if the defeat would set Blayney back. I think from a Blayney point of view the last month or so will be viewed very positively, 5 tough championship like games and 4 or 5 new names coming to the fore, lads who otherwise may not have gotten there chance for another 12-18 months.
I think only a foolish man would regard the last 4 or 5 games that Blayney played in were "championship like".
Yeah Cross and Ballinderry was better, unsurprisingly, still hardly classic football. My point was that I thought both Carrick and Blayney did ok on a difficult evening for playing attractive football.
I'm also sorry u think I'm foolish but in my opinion these games were indeed "championship like" to the 4-5 young Blayney fringe players who played in all of them (games they wouldn't have got had others been available), a couple of whom have come from nowhere to be in contention for Championship places for next season.
Congrats to Drumhowen on their great victory yesterday too....
I think we'll have to agree to disagree on the point of Castleblayney unearthing new players for next because from what I have seen of them the likes of Daly, Hill, Mc Guinness & McElroy will not make the Castleblayney team next year for the championship.
We're closer to agreeing than u think..... Your first post asked whether this final defeat would set Blayney back. I reasoned that rather than setting them back it has brought other players on, there is no substitute for the competitive experience that they have gained. Over the last couple of years the Faughs panel had become small with the team virtually picking itself and only 2-3 realistic substitute options. Now I agree that most of the lads u name won't become starters, certainly not in the short term, I think that any or indeed all of them could do a job if called upon. The knock on effect is that players on the team know they have competition for their place and have to up their game. Gaelic Football has ceased to be a 15 man game and having a panel of 22-23 can only help in the long term (this is also a problem at county level, but thats a story for another day).
