BEST SCORE YOU HAVE EVER SEEN??

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

Declan30 from Limerick- the goal you are referring to was in the 2000 replay between Kerry and Galway and it was scored by the wing back Declan Meehan. It was a real peach of a goal. One of my favourite was a goal in the 1985 all Ireland semi final between Mayo and Dublin- scored by Padraig Brogan. One of the all time great goals.

In hurling one that jumps out for me was a goal by Nicky English in the 1987 Munster Final when he kicked the ball to the net after losing the hurley. And a goal by DJ Carey v Antrim at Croke Park about decade ago when he smashed home a rebound.

I saw Laochra Gael Jimmy Barry Murphy recently. They showed a goal where Fenton drove a ball from his own half-back line straight towards goal. JBM flew out to the ball, doubled on it overhead and it flew into the top corner. I think it was against Galway but Im not sure. Anyone else see it? Twas savage.

For most enjoyable I would say Peter Canavan against Armagh 05 free. Closely followed by Seamus Darby's goal v Kerry.

Greatest score would have to be between Brian Doohers this year or maybe Maurice Fitz.

Not based on unbelieveably quality but sheer significance... Declan Bonners insurance point against the Dubs in the AI Final in '92 and the raised fist celebration - still makes the hairs stand on the back of my neck...

138843 Just when you mention John McEntee there patrique, it reminds me of an absolute peach he scored against Clontibret in Ulster, either last year or the one before, he had the ball along the end line on the right side about 50m+ out, drilled it over the bar with the outside of the left, some score.

Bit of a problem for me with this one MMM where was he - the 50m line, the sideline or the end-line? Was his twin brother Tony playing that day? it might explain the multiple locations.
On the thread - the levelling free on the stroke of time v Kerry circa 55 yds. out in 1985 I'd say, by Eamon McEneaney of Monaghan is worthy of a mention by anyone who saw it. The occasion, pressure distance....

Graham Geraghty's gem against Dublin in 2005. At the Canal End with his left foot from an impossible angle.

All of John McEntee's scores were from the outside of the boot, lazy looking, that soared over the bar from all angles, Mid-Mon Man.

The one I am talking about was in the 1999 final I think, at Clones. Right in front of us, on the sideline 40 yards out.
