Cork v Limerick in 87, first county match i ever went to so what a start!
was that the groundstroke from about 40 yards that ended in the back of the net?
i remember it used to be featured in an add for a cure for mastitis, and the mastitis cure came with a free sliotar if you bought 4 boxes.
great times to be alive.

Second to morts effort (rightly pointed out by WB) was Colm Macs banana kick v glaway in 99. The bronze one just let it rip in the rain and for once.....

conor mortimer free v galway a few years ago. He must have been 20 - 25 metres out from goal and he put it straight over the black spot. A real beaut _______________________________________________________________________________
A whole 20 metres out? My god, how did he manage that? Must have just scraped over from that huge distance!

I was lucky enough to be at the game and I'll be telling the grandchildren about this one to be sure. And no showboating from the great man either after scoring this masterpiece, just a simple shrug of the shoulders. I remember seeing the other players from both sides and the respective dugouts, not to mention the 40,000 in the ground simply standing in awe. It was a truely blessed moment

Ciaran Mac's sideline kick in the first half v DUblin in '06. Beautiful score. Look at that game again. Some of the scores that day were breathtaking. His winner was a peach

In all fairness to WB, Blonde Mort has missed easier ones from straight in front of the posts from 13 yards. Taking this into account, as the title of the thread says, it has to be one of the best scores ever seen . . . . . :)

Maurice Fitzgerald against us in 2001 at Thurles Barney Rocks goal in '83 all Ireland final , these were the best scores I witnessed in person. Best on TV was James McCartans point against Derry at Celtic park in the '94 Ulster championships.

Fermanagh Gaels would neet to help me out here but i think the Guy's name is Mc Cabe?? Came on as a sub in the Ferm V Monaghan Match in Enniskillen in this years championship - Outside of the right boot on left hand side of the pitch, absolute screamer. Others scores to stand out:-
Mugsy's Goal V Dublin '05 - Sheer Class Martin Mc Hugh for Donegal V Cavan in the Ulster Championship in 1992 - A 55 Meter Free near the end of the match (the behind the goal anlge gives you a better indication of the bend he put on the ball) Frankie Dolan (Roscomman) V Kildare (i think) a few years back, one man show that day, think he scored a peach from near the sideline. And maurice Fitz v Dublin in Semple Stadium in 2001(?) - out of this world - (must have felt better with Tommy Carr roaring in his ear just before he kicked it!)

Yeah this was a bit of a closed shop to be honest. Not once was Brian Mullins, Jimmy Keaveney, Paddy Cullen et al asked to do a liver fluke wormer ad, an ad for drenching, fertiliser, silage or anything like that. Discrimination against the Dubs I say!

as a meath man, many memorable scores to remember..... Foleys goal, and the context of it in '91 must be the greatest score ever Hayes scored a cracker of a goal in the '88 league final replay O'rourke score a sideline in the '90 league final as well against Down, had to be there to remember it, better than Maurice Fitz's (and his son scored one too, in a minor semi final in 2006 too....) GG score a few screamer's in his day, i remember one in 2005, from the endline near the corner flag into the canal end, poetry in motion Brendan reilly's point in '96 replay to win the all ireland, what a score....
From other counties.... Mugsy's goal in '05, superb De Paor's in '98 after Donnellan's massive run half the length of the pitch Duggan's point in the '91 connacht final (one to remember for sure) McCartan's point v Derry in '94 Peter the great's free v Armagh semi final in '05
Hurling..... Fenton's goal always take the plaudits Nicky English volley in the last minute of the '89 final v Antrim Dj Carey's on the hurl v Clare in 2002 final Broderick's v Kilkenny in 2001 (i think) Any of Dan's v cork in 2007 championship.....
