Leitrim Lad, i dont think that court cases like this would ruin the G.A.A. at all. They would probably strengthen it as thugs would know that they would not get away with assaults. Accidents can always happen and might sometimes get interpreted as deliberate but at the moment the opposite is sometimes the case. The fact that it ends up in court does not mean that the person on trial is guilty. Guilt has to be proven. There should be no hiding place for thugs in our organisation. not to condone any violence on the field of play but there is a serious difference between a punch or a kick than biting someones ear off, that is an absolute act of thuggery that only animals should be seen doing. It is a risk to hit someone these days in anything and i believe that if u take the risk of lashing out u should be ready to deal with the consequence of it, if a serious problem should incur. Too many players have made a career out of intimidation with a serious lack of skill. At the end of the day when you bite someones ear of you intentionally try to disfigure them, when u hit someone there is more of effort to intimidate them to win the game, not condoning either because neither belong on the field. inaball (Meath) - Posts: 16 - 12/11/2008 07:02:12 139249 Link 0 |

A Junior championship game in Donegal this summer between Kilcar (3rd team) and Convoy. A convoy player got a straight red for hitting a lad and then kicked him twice in the face before swinging for anyone near him. Craziest thing I ever seen on a football field, think he got 48 week suspension or something like it. Chatting to the ref after the match he was like a ghost he told me he close to walking off the pitch himself it was that insane! Playing hard is fine and nobody minds a bit of dirt but what kind of coward kicks a man in the face when he is on the ground and not looking?
