Look I actually played a few games over 10 years ago for Wexford before emigrating and the manager we dedicated and did a decent job but there was no support for him and the team and no success as a result. I'm sure every manager which has done the jbo tried their best but lets face it, it's been a long time since we reached a Leinster final never mind an all-ireland semi so I'd have to take my hat off to the man there now. From speaking to people he has really inspired the current crop of players and done what many have not been able to do before. Nick (Wexford) - Posts: 1100 - 06/11/2008 23:44:09 135596 Link 0 |

Can't argue with Sean Mc Cague as best manager Monaghan ever had. Won Ulster championships and was president of the association. As for player... fiirst player to win an All-Star as both a back and then a forward.....Eugene Hughes Plink (Monaghan) - Posts: 110 - 07/11/2008 02:14:57 135618 Link 0 |
For what he's given to westmeath football it's dessie dolan but for shear football ability no one comes close to martin flanagan! The man is an absolutely legend and would stroll on to any county team in the country! would_ya (Westmeath) - Posts: 51 - 07/11/2008 09:11:33 135644 Link 0 |

Nick, in total agreement on Liam Dunne and Liam Griffin, he was the only Wexford manager who made the players believe that they were good enough to win an all-ireland. I would also put Larry O'Gorman ahead of Martin Storey but they were both class acts. Oh to have the 3 of them down the middle now.......
