relegation

the leagues are well primed for an exciting finale, it seems certain that carrick will be relegated, who do people think will join them? aughnasheelan or carrigallen? the division 2 league is similarly tight at the bottom, i hope aughavas don't get relegated, that would be a shame for such a fine club and fine people

Why would you say it's certain that Marys will be relegated? They're level on points with Carrigallen with a game in hand. I would say it'll be Aughnasheelin (who have to play the top 2 yet) and Carrigallen to go down.

Although not it Marys produce another performance like they did against Annaduff.

Will 2 teams be relegated or just 1? Who do ye think will get relegated and who will win the league?

St Marys have completely hit the self distruct button, you could widen the goals by 5 feet and they still wouldn't score. Against Anaduff the looked great for 20 mins but were complete rubbish for the remainder of the game. They brought one player on and took off same player after 5 mins. Realisticially Marys need Anaduff to beat Carrigallen - will they??? and also need to beat Allen Gaels ( seem to be flying ) and Melvin Gaels who are top of the league. I think Harry Redknapp is needed to get them out of this mess. If they can survive it would be more of a sucess than winning a championship..
Dont write Aughnasheelin off just yet either.

All joking aside,i feel this is a major issue for a select few clubs currently,in paricular st.mary's. The consequences of them being relegated in effect relegates their entire club, with all four teams dropping a division.Have they underestimated the prospect of relegation, and is it now too late? With allen gaels(perhaps seeking second in the league and a place in the league final) showing excellent form and the usually strong melvin to play,a win will be hard found.Furthermore, both are arch rivals and would love nothing more than to see the carrick men take the plunge.
Kiltubrid seem to have had a good win over the bors who seem quite contempt every year to stay in the comfort zone of mid table, while Carrigallen put up a big score against a usually dogged gort.
Carrigallen's final game is against Annaduff, and with nothing in this game for the duff men, could they display 'an off day',giving two valuable points to the opposition, further displacing the marys......................

Marys are certain to drop, seen them recently there lack of forward power is there for all to see, Gene Bohan needs a big man to link up with...........Drop Mulvey and get P Garvey back.

Yeah I would have my doubts about the amount of effort Annaduff will put into the game against Carigallen but it's amazing how a week can change things. This time last week Marys were after beating Carrigallen and they looked doomed then. I would still fancy Marys to beat Allen Gaels and then it would be a fun last day of the league. Would be nice if we could get to a stage where all the games were played at the one time but highly unlikely to happen

I'll write Aughnasheelin off if that's ok

In relation to the relegation battle, why are St. Marys not playing Allen Gaels. I see on Leitrim Gaa website they both have weekend off, yet still have to play in this Years league. Can anybody shine any light on this.

thanks

God knows. I don't understand why Carrigallen & Kiltubrid will complete their league programme and Marys & Aughnasheelin will have 2 games left to play

How many teams get relegated, i think it would be some disaster if Marys get relegated as each team in the club will drop a division, if Annaduff beat Carrigallen where does that leave things?

moland, both carrick and carrigallen are are on 6 points, carrigallen are ahead of carrick on a superior score difference (3 pts better). carrigallen have annaduff left to play whereas carrick have melvin gaels and drumshanbo left to play. visit leitrimgaa.ie and you can see for yoursel. after this weekend carrick will know what they have to do to stay up so the advantage will be with them............... stay tuned

Rumours are circulating that Annaduff may field a weakened team against Carigallen this weekend just to see Marys go down. Can any body shed some light on this?

So it looks bad for St Marys and Aughnasheelin at one end of the table. What about the other - who will be in the league final and who will win it? Glencar Manor are surely favourites.

Annaduff never went out with the intention of losing a game in the club's history. They're certainly not going to do it now. In actual fact, the full team will be back to play against Carrigallen - rather than the junior team that beat St Mary's last weekend. We don't want to see St Mary's going down. It would mean that our second team would be playing their first team in div 2 next year and our third team would be playing their second team in div 3. It would not be to our advantage for them to be religated.

Just posted this on Leitrim GAA site but don't expect to see it approved. Nothing is let through unless it's complimentary or a request for information already in the public domain

Regarding the Division 1 relegation battle; the question I would ask is not, Why are St Mary´s not playing Allen Gaels this weekend, but why are the other teams involved in the battle to beat the drop playing their remaining fixtures before the last day of the league. If everyone played their last game at the same time it would be fairer and also cover the County Board from any criticisim that would enevitably arise.

There is a whiff of stale odour about this

Aughnasheelin are relegated! I doubt anybody will miss them. St Marys look in real trouble now. Melvin Gaels in the Final - Who will join them?

Carrick did not have a game as awaiting Dermot Reynolds return from honeymoon.Similarly,Jimmy Guckian has a hamstring issue, thus the extra week should see him fit for the edge of the square this Saturday.
