Is Gaelic football all brawn and no skill?

Ball boy is your typical rugby head. I doubt he is from Mayo. I have never seen him contributing on the Mayo Home site. Comments about 04 and 06 go completely over his head, he was probably delighted Mayo failed to perform on those occasions.

teh aussies pick it up every year in about a week and teach us a lesson in our own sport, there is no compromise in compromise rules its just gaelic football with a mark - suits us and points for wides - suits us, the tackle - suits northern teams. so yes 30 lads with no experince can and have become great gaelic footballer and we have seen them in action they literally hammered us off the field in football terms last year- there is the case in point it will be shot down because its 100% true and we are just scared to admit it, even though ireland is the only country where gaa (football) is played at a seriously competitive level we are not the best in the world at it

we hammered australia what palnet are you living on

If you mean that you are looking for previous threads here you don't need google. Just go to the mean page and click on "latest Forum Posts" above the list of the more recent threads. This will bring you to the thread index. Theres a huge amount of skill involved in gaelic football. Can you imagaine if there were transfer fees in gaelic football the fees that the following would fetch would be scary. C.Cooper. M.Fitgerald.P.Canavan.B.Brogan.M.Murphy.J.Clarke. Etc. All amazing at the skills of the game we love.

Sounds a great idea for TG4 - a new reality TV program!

Its unfair to suggest that Gaelic football is all brawn and no skill, there is fantastic kicking skills from forwards from all counties you see it week in week out, some of the point taking last weekend was terrific, the speed, but it will come down to kicking and physical strenght.

Let's be honest, it's far from being the beautiful game but we love it like an ugly child!

I would have said the same as the first couple of replies,i.e. the skills are learned from an eary age.But seeing Kerry resorting to bringing the keeper the length of the field has made me start to think that there is a lot of truth to such a statement. The traditionally basic skills of the game, e.g. kicking with both feet, kicking off the ground, etc are being lost to weights, speed and handpassing.
