Top 5 pitches / facilities in Tyrone

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

Donaghmore has a new facility opening in 5 weeks. It is costing £2.5m and is inclusive of available offices, Bardic theatre and the GAA club.
There will be 6 large changing rooms (maybe 8), two of which is dedicated for ladies (ie the shy cubicle kind), built in ice baths, saunas, full time gym with state of the art equipment.
There is also be a full size indoor court for 5 a side etc similar to Dungannon leisure centre and a function room on the 3rd floor.

Plans are on Donagmoregfc.com

The playing surface of the main pitch is to be relaid and a third to be built.
Maybe not in the same league as mallow but it'll be decent never the less.

Donaghmore's plans sound impressive, must be the first of it's kind in the county, be interesting to see if other clubs follow suit.

Kildress' new pitch has the best lights in tyrone aside from Healy Park..
Can anyone give me a link to where it gives information about Donaghmore's new pitch on their website?

Loughmacrory's pitch has to be 1 of the best in tyrone Donmoyle is the same, both facilities are excellent. Healy Park has the facilities but the pitch is a disgrace for county level. Strabane's new pitch will be 1 of the best in Tyrone but the facilities need updated.

I like the idea of Astroturf goalmouths such as at Derrytresk. It seems OK to play on but what do the Goalkeepers think of it? Good set up I am looking forward to seeing Donaghmores finished set up.

i find that when a low shot hits the astorturf it skids up really fast.. also quite sore to land on..

that said i prefere it to muck and stones which most goalmouths are made up off..

who'd be a goalkeeper eh?

our goalmouths have been a big problem down the years they were always badly worn but with only having one pitch and it's location in a more built up area these days lads will play in and around the goals in the evenin 7days a week so the goal mouths were always poor to be truthful... astroturf has solved this problem i wudn't be one for keeping lads off the pitch the more they play the better, i havn't seen to many problems to be honest and i actually find it helps the referee a little more with in the square decisions etc. but may'be i'm biased

was looking at donaghmores website, facilties look first class, but in my own opinion i would say the best overall are:

Healy Park (has to be with everything they have, changing room that man utd could use, enough said)
Fintona (excellent ground overall good clubhouse, spectator areas and good parking)
Loughmcrory (brilliant new devlopment, excellent club house spacious changing rooms and palying surface second to none, best surface in county, could do with stands and terracing to really complate a fantastic devlopement)

Surely Strabane has facilities and pitches that would be in the top 5.

Dergman no we didn't so what big deal c'est la vie. Sure we'll have another rattle this year. How are the derg fixed for this year?

Dergman i dont know where you'v heard anythin about a stand. The first objective is to build a clubhouse worthy of the surrondings the club has at the minute. A stand is much further down the pipe line. As for the players i think we'v still got too many older fellas who would have hung up the boots at any other club and the young fellas coming through are just too young, we'v nothin in between at the minute! How many minors of the last four years have stepped up to play for the first team? At most three and the rest have given up!

Alot of work to be done!
