If you believe that then you must believe in the Tooth Fairy, Easter Bunny, Santa Claus and the Abominable Snowman.

Ur obviously from Ardboe with a post like that. Coney to me is a very selfish player a real showboater who would nearly need a ball of his own during matches. Is a good player ok when he has space but on Sunday against Dromore was not in the game at all and always tries to score from the silliest of angles. I really fear for him going to Oz cant see him making much of an impression at all he wud need to spend about 3 years pumping iron before going there.

minors dont get allstars unless they play in the senior champs would that answeer your question, kyle coney would be lucky if he got on the tyrone teamtalk team of the year never mind a national award.

Average club player in senior football. OK in county minors- has a bit of size in his favour with the rest of the cubs. He'll not last in Oz.

Think we r forgeting hes still a minor, just feel hes being judged to soon he can only learn which is why i think he should have stayed here, he is a talented lad.

bocerty and man and ball - i think its fair to say you two fellas were up at healy park to see dromore beat ardboe. and its probably fair to say that this is the only time you have seen kyle coney play for his club. lets be honest here, kyle doesnt deserve an allstar, no doubt about that at all, but for you fellas to say he is average at county minor, to suggest his height is his biggest asset and that he'll be crap in australia is pure nonsense!! who knows about how he will develop in australia, but i wouldnt judge kyle on seeing him play against dromore, if that was the case sure why dont we say the mcguigans are crap too because the whole ardboe team was awful that day.
when tyrone minors have been in danger of losing games this yr, with the exception of the final at croker, kyle coney was the one to turn the games around simply by bringing him into positions he plays best at. i suggest you two fellas curb your jealousy a little and give him a break, sean cavanagh hadnt the same stature when he was 17/18 that kyle coney has and that says a lot

Moortown Spudhead,
I have seen Coney play in most of the Tyrone matches this year, seen him play in a few league and championship matches this year and last, and played against him in senior football too.
I have also spoken to people who have coached him and are very highly regarded in Tyrone and the point I have seen raised by myself and others is his attitude. Self confidence is a great thing but arrogance and greed (on the field not money wise) will not be transferred successfully in years to come.
He made the right choice in my view to go to Australia, he has got the chance to live his dream and the people on here saying this and that about him staying etc are wrong, he owes Tyrone football nothig and owes the people slagging him off nothing.
My opinion is that he is slightly overrated. There are people who are calling for an allstar for gods sake.
If people who know football had watched the drawn minor final in detail, Tyrone should have won that match easily in spite of Kyle Coney. His constant shooting from silly angles and greed nearly shot Tyrone out of that match.
His size gives hima distinct advantage in minor football, the same as the mayo number 11. In the 2 matches this year in my opinion that guy was a better player than coney without a shadow of a doubt. BUt he too was built like a man and his size and power will not be so advantageous in senior football.

Fair play to him going to Oz, I still dont think he will last but he is doing the right thing in going and even if he doesnt make and comes home he will have at least done it and tried something none of us have.

Moortown - firstly your wrong about it being the first time I have seen him play for his club. Secondly I was by no means trying to make little of him as a footballer - I was merely trying to bring a bit of reality to the thread. I never said he was average as county minor either. He is a supremely gifted footballer however I think he is being hyped up to be something he is not. And the danger there is he starts to believe the hype and ends up being lost to football. He is not the first gifted fottballer to star for Tyrone minors and he wont be the last - but look at previous minor sides that have won Ulster and All Ireland titles they all had some great footballers - how many of them made it through to senior ranks.

He is a very greedy footballer and in my opinion a bit of a glory hunter - in the All ireland finals some of the angles he tried to score from were ridiculous and he never learnt he kept trying to do it over and over again. He could easily have cost the minors the title with some of his antics. He is very reluctant to pass to team mates and i dont think he would be that easy to play with or manage. Having said that some of the scores he picked of this year have been inspirational.

He is being put up on a pedestal as the next great thing to hit Tyrone football and for me the only way he can go is down if people continue to hype him up in this way. As for Oz my opinion is he is much too light to make an impression out there and my fear is he would suffer a serious injury but who knows a few years out there could ultimately aid his development as a footballer.

Aplogies if it appeared I was slagging him off - I wasnt - i just think he is being hyped up too much and that ultimately that could be his downfall. I am looking forward to seeing him in action this weekend - this game will tell us a lot more about him. Will he have the discipline to deal with Omagh tactics which will undoubtedly be to stop him at all costs.

a few things fellas; there wasnt many people crying about the silly angles kyle was shooting from against meath in the semi's was there? the reason the lad shoots from these angles is because he has the talent to do so. he did so in the final replay and it worked out for him then aswell, so its a bit unfair to slag him and call him arrogant just for missing a few times dont you think?

for those who suggest kyle is too light to go to australia and he will get hurt, you dont seem to realise that he's going as a rookie therefor he will be given the required time to adapt and build on his physique.

and to suggest that kyle believes all the hype written about him is dung too and those of you saying so dont know the lad cause he's a gentleman.

the laddddd, when i was about about stature i wasnt meaning height, weight, build etc etc etc

everyone knows kyle has the talent to do well out in australia if he goes, and they will build him up out in aus so he is capable to play along side the aussies.
seriously cant believe what some people are saying on this.
bringing down a man from your own county.
seems to me that theres some jealous people around.

man and ball - you really dont like kyle do you? average club footballer, an ok tyrone minor etc etc he prob gave you a roasting thats maybe your problem! there's a lot of things im wrong about man and ball, but i bet im 100% right when i bet you werent on any television screens this or any other yr playing football!!
interesting to know who these highly regarded people are that coached kyle and calls him arrogant and selfish - can only be from the tyrone minor camp or the ardboe camp - and none of the coaches of those two teams are highly regarded so quit with your jealousy and stop trying to belittle the lad. go and watch some football and stop slabbering about it man and noballs!

I've played with Kyle on many occasions and there is no doubt he is the best Minor easily in Tyrone and one of the best if not the best in Ireland. If he was an 'average' Minor would the Swans be after him? No! Don't be stupid and stop being jelous of the man's talent.

put urselves in Kyles boots the media attention, tv n newspapers interviews, all about the contract in Australia, tyrone miners doing so well i think he has coped remarkable with all the attention at eighteen, some of the tools on this thread either havent a clue about football or else they just cant remember when they were that age themselves u could bet whatever u like the critics never achieved a big pile themselves on the field of play
