Great Players who will never win an All Ireland

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

patrique frank lost both games did he against the mighty antrim. your knowledge is a bit light if you compare a cornerback with a very full forward, apples and pears. i never said the guys with no all irelands werent great but surely this thread is a little lightweight when you measure great. was frank better than frankie donnelly or iggy jones dont think he was your argument is a little lightweight.

There's a Sligo hurler, Paul Seevers, who was approached more than once to move to Galway and transfer to their county team. Fair play to the man that he toughed it out in Sligo. For many years he was the Sligo team, and it was great to see him finally get his reward in the Rackard this year. In his late 30s and still one of the best players in the county

Firstly Red doctor, Great teams win all Ireland not Great players.

Also, tyronemanc, that comment you made was completly unsporting and uncalled for. Both you and Reddoctor need to get that oakleaf shaped chip off your shoulders.

Ah there was lads slagging him left, right and centre Jayo. Then we had that brain from Clare calling him "Donkey" again. Defending a man from unjustified criticism is one thing, Niamh in a sulk over someone from Tyrone hoping some Derry players never win an AI is another.

All the Tyrone posters she mentioned do is slate Derry at any given chance, coming out with complete tripe ALL the time so she's entitled to write whatever she wants back to them. All you do is type ****, but you don't see anyone having a go at you!

patrique frank lost both games did he against the mighty antrim.

They were not that mighty. Lost the replayed final in 1974 to Mayo in a classic game, although Gerry Armstrong had moved to England and soccer then.

In 1975 Armstrong played in the semi in Tralee against Kerry. Man of the match but we managed to lose to a mediocre Kerry team, containing Charlie Nelligan, Paudie O'Shea, Mike Spillane, Tom Kennelly, Ogie Moran, Ger O'Driscoll, Sean Walsh, Barry Walsh, Mike Sheehy, Tom Doyle, Jack O'Shea and Pat Spillane. We had a man sent off and there wasn't that much in it, but how could we possibly lose to that Kerry team? I mean they only won about 70 all Ireland's medals (senior) between them.

So as I said, not that mighty.

patrique what were yous doing with a fintona man playing from antrim in the great gerry, your right not a bad kerry team and i wasnt being sarcastic when i said the mighty antrim, i was referring to the fact that the mighty frank may not have been that mighty. i do believe the last ulster title that antrim won was the 1989 ulster u 21 title paul mc erlean et al beating most of a very good tyrone side in the semis most of whom didnt get the recognition of the legendary frank but did play in the 1995 senior all ireland final and were cruelly robbed by the dubs.

I do. Not that it took a great amount of personal effort to earn it but have one all the same.

Antrim have just completed another 7 in a row in Ulster at senior level. Most GAA fans would know that. Also won the minor this year. I think that was 14 in a row.

Gerry Armstrong is from Beechmount on the Fall's Road.

Red Doc, I fear you have limited knowledge of GAA affairs.

I won one All Ireland colleges hurling (b) division medal.

I also won 21 all Ireland fleadh medals on the bodhran, then failed a drug test and was stripped of them all.

As I keep saying, a lot of it is an accident of birth.

If Mike Sheehy, Paidi O'Shea, Ger Power, Ogie Moran and Pat Spillane had been born in Belfast they wouldn't have an all Ireland between them.

They certainly wouldn't if you got to them first
