Hurling Championship 2026

I think we are really in for a great Leinster final this year.

I've said all year Galway remind me a lot of Tipperary last year. They have a game plan and when it clicks they are brilliant to watch. Some of the movement and passing they do is a sight to behold. If they can produce it for the full 75 minutes they could beat anyone

Dublin have impressed me no end. They seem to have built nicely throughout the Round Robin and I think there performance last time out against Kilkenny is worlds away from their league final performance. A serious team with serious depth. Dublin possess a goal threat that will win a lot of matches. If they can tidy up some of the short passing amongst the backs and half backs they too could beat anyone.

Great win for NY and us Americans over a gallant Tyrone side in the Rackard Cup. Next year, we'll take the Ring, the year after the McDonagh, and before youse know it, we'll be challenging for Liam McCarthy.

You heard it here first.

Nua-Eabhrac Abú!

How does it work?
Do NY come in at semi final stage in McD Cup next year now?
If so then there should be 2 semi finals or even 3rd v NY and winners to SF against 2nd.

Congratulations to NY, but they won't be allowed to enter the All-Ireland at the semi-finals stage.

Why not? It is not something that congress has ruled on yet!

We'll win it anyway, no matter what way the games come at us!

Well, they'll go into the Christy Ring Cup first, before they get anywhere near the McDonagh.....!

Fair play to the Yanks. Ye are always optimistic if not realistic. Should ye ever get as far as qualifying for the McCarthy Cup I expect ye will be placed in Leinster....or in the "World Series" as it may be called by then!

Just a matter of winning the Christy next year. By the time we get to the Joe the year after, Wexford will probably be our toughest opponents in it.

Big setback for Kerry. Always had a soft spot for them going back to the Hennessys and the great players they had in the 1980s wen they had a very good team.

Could be. Or we could be Leinster Champions either. Impossible to say with us.....

Congratulations to Clare on the u-20 AI win. Some great hurling in the game, mostly by Clare! A couple of them could be brought into the senior set up, now. Well done Clare and Munster hurling!

A very well deserved win. A big congratulations to Clare. Not a big county, but they're continuing to produce. That team has some really classy hurlers and some powerful runners with plenty ability too. They converted the minor win 3 years ago into an U20. Showing Galway how to do it. I hope our lads learn from this and use it to motivate themselves to progress on to senior.

Clare had 7 starters who started both the 2023 minor final and the game yesterday. 3 or 4 others played a part in both games, either started 1 and were a sub in the other, or as a sub in both.
Thats pretty good development/retention.
Especially considering some players who might have appeared in both but didnt on account of injury.

And they will be decent again next year too.

Would be a great name for it! It works so well for Major League Baseball!

The World Series Major League Hurling, now doesn't that have a lovely ring to it?

We are as unlikely to win Camogie as we are Hurling or Football. But we might win 1 or more of them either.

Yes, some great hurling, especially by Clare. All their players showed excellent skill, and they really played as a team throughout. Their manager must be doing a lot right, and he has come across as a very gracious and humble man in his interviews.

Looking forward to to big matches this weekend.

I have been saying all year that I thought Galway would win Leinster as they were the most improved team in the Country this year, but I have to say Dublin have impressed me no end in the round robin and they look like built up there performances throughout the year. They look like they are primed and have timed their run perfectly. I'm expecting a great contest and either team winning would not be a shock to anyone.

Similar story in Munster, two teams who know each other inside out and upside down. There will be very little between them again and it could go either way. I don't hear any great pronouncements coming form the Cork supporters yet (and if I have learnt anything over the years, its that you should really worry about them when they are quiet). I'm honestly not getting much from Limerick either to be fair. The talk is more about trying to source tickets than anything.

Some of the talk is gas though, one of my pals in Cork is claiming that that the Munster Council are holding back tickets for JP, while the conspiracy theorists in Limerick are saying that Musgraves (as owners of GAA championship sponsors Centra and Supervalu) have got thousands of tickets for the Cork head office staff and their families, and that some of the Centra / Supervalu shop owners in Limerick who would normally get some have been told get lost.
