So we are back at it this weekend - Is there any sign of Wexford Park opening back up? Bellefield very dried up looking based on Clubber games last weekend. Scheduling is hardly an easy job and it's a bit much for me to be suggesting improvements because those who set the fixtures likely have many headaches to deal with when choosing dates, times, and venues…. To me, it's no different to if that third match was instead in Oylegate or Monamolin or somewhere else that's regularly used. I see there's an Intermediate match in St. Patrick's Park later that evening, so they're caught by that anyway as regards throw-in time of the first one, because the traffic situation there means that double-headers are not a runner. Rathnure V Rapps - Rathnure impressive in there first few games albeit that late rally by Glyn but were still confrontable up until that stage. Rathnure by 3. Oulart V Oylegate - Oulart were poor enough in their last outing , and as usual hard to know what to get from Oylegate. Think i'll go with teh Oylegate men, only just. Glynn V Ferns - Glynn put in a good comeback against Rathnure so they obviously have something about them. They are the only teams with no points in what looks to be a competitive group. They need to win this to stay in touch. Harriers V Fethard Impressed by Harriers the last game, Fethard I think unfortunately are probably just that bit off the pace, Harriers by 6, St Martins V Shels Two undefeated teams in group b, think its a hard one to call, Martins in cruise control so far while Shels looked good against Annes, might go for a draw. Annes V Gorey Naomh Eanna looked so poor against Harriers, even though there was only 4 points in it but I thought they looked well bet. Annes no points yet so they have to win, Annes by 3. Intermediate Championship Liam Mellows v Alley The Castletown men very impressive against Ballyfad, another really tight group so far. I think the Alley might be in trouble here, very poor against Blackwater, going to say Liam Mellows by 5. Askamore v St. James. Again both teams winning and losing a game. Askamore so poor first day and excellent against albeit a poor Horeswood team. James winning and then losing to Craanford, people saying that was a surprise but I dont think it was. Craanford have an impressive few underage players. Going to go with Askamore by 2. Crossabeg v Horeswood Horeswood my favorites for relegation, Crossabeg really should of been bet the last against HWH, expect them to win this at a canter. Cloughbawn v Ballyfad. Cloughbawn building nicely, not big wins but going about there business. Ballyfad so good first day but terrible against Liam Mellows. Cloughbawn by 6. Craanford v Bunclody Bunclody wondering how they dont have any points on the board yet. Very unlucky in the last two games, especially against Ballymurn. Craanford probably cant believe they have won there first two matches. I think they will come up against a team having to win, HWH by 3. Blackwater v Davidstown Blackwater put in a massive surprise the last day against the Alley while Davidstown put in tow good performances against tow of the stronger teams in the group. This is a must win for them otherwise they will be looking at relegation. My father used to be on a fixtures committee and he always said to people complaining about fixtures "if you want to, take the list of fixtures for this weekend and see how long it takes you to think of every logistic, constraint, club 2nd team, matches on at the same time for a club, referees having matches close to their home, individual club requests (when you could make them), etc, etc. Apparently it has been said time and again that matches in St. Patrick's Park would run much better if everybody walked the 5 min from the bottom of that road up to it. I don't know Enniscorthy well but there is a huge car park beside the Garda Station there or is that gone? And a lot along that road at the Garda Station there. On a Saturday afternoon, without a match even on, that car park and across from the station is basically full, no parking there. And less than 10 minutes is not a long walk if you're any way able-bodied at all. Not much different from if you park in St. Peter's College or North End for a big day in Wexford Park. Anyone who genuinely thinks 10 minutes is a long walk to get into a match should count themselves lucky we don't make it to more Leinster Finals or All-Ireland semi-finals or finals. There is more than ample parking in the showgrounds for any game that will take place in Patricks Park but for some reason Wexford GAA, and the Showgrounds Committee won't sort out their differences with regards to entry / exit from Ross Road .. I'd say Patricks Park has the most games of any ground in the county over the season so you can see why local residents would get fed up .. Agree 100% sadly some people have no consideration or common sense. There are still some clowns parking in the boxing club car park every game and thats facing the Showgrounds.
