Did anyone have a chance to read Colm article on rural clubs recently. What do Meath county board to address these issue.
They impose levy on clubs with no sense of fairness or balance. Senior: €6,000 per annum (€500 per month) Intermediate: €4,800 per annum (€400 per month) Junior: €3,600 per annum (€300 per month)
We will take Trim and Ratoath for example who are both Senior Hurling and Football clubs in large population areas with huge membership numbers are only being asked to pay €500 and not €1000.
Whilst rural hurling clubs Kiltale and Killyon and football clubs Rathkenny and Ballinabrackey are asked to pay the same amount of €500. This not sustainable to look for €6000 euro from small rural clubs with low membership numbers that have to survive with their own fundraisers.
Its has a real feel of everyone must pay the kings taxes.

Completely agree, should be connected to registered members or something, how the CC ask Small clubs like Meath Hill and Rathkenny to pay the same as Trim and ratoath is ridiculous, in many ways it sums up some of the taught process of the cc ( of lack of )

Its just not sustainable for rural clubs. The cost of running a club has skyrocketed in recent years and now the county board put more costs on top.
God forbid a club has to fork out for an outside manager as well if they aren't lucky enough to be able to appoint from within.

In my opinion the levy should apply in the same manner as the JP McManus fund was distributed. Each club, dual or otherwise was treated as a single unit. I would keep the €500 for Senior, €400 for Immediate and €300 for Junior. As regards the reform of the hurling championships and the proposed similar reform of the football championships, I would abolish the Senior B, Inter B etc. Senior B is the second grade and therefore INTERMEDIATE. The remaining groups to be retitled accordingly.
As regards the Pairc Tailtean redevelopment there was an interesting article in last Saturday's Independent. A former Mayo Minor manager, JP Kean in an interview with Colm Keys cited figures relating to their pitch redevelopment. He, Kean claims that the county are "on the hook for €25,000 a month over a 30 year period" and that this outlay had resulted in "Poor investment in underage coaching, and particularly in coaching the kind of forwards that Mayo have missed over the last few decades to make the difference, was the outcome of the stadium absorbing so much revenue". The timeline and funds are very similar to those being imposed on our clubs.
So are our clubs, while in part 'rebuilding Pairc Tailtean' going to deprive our youth of coaching and facilities that may result on the top underage players not reaching their full potential? It is difficult to say, and hopefully it won't but Mr Kean's comments are worthy of consideration.
In a few years time I can see some clubs claiming "inability to pay".

It's like the age-old debate of splitting the bill, should John be expected to pay the same as Cathy, even though John had a glass of water and soup, yet Cathy ordered surf and turf over ther!!
Millerx its simple as

2 groups of 6.
Each team guaranteed 5 matches.
Winners of groups straight into semis.
2nd and 3rd into quarters.
4th and 5th eliminated.
6th into relegation play off.
And a seeded draw also, eliminate potential groups of death.
