Wouldn't it be great if the county All Ireland was as close instead of every county playing as also rans to Kerry. Saynothing (Tyrone) - Posts: 2451 - 27/10/2025 10:53:37 2641809Link 0
Whoever wins the Roscommon final replay might have a big say in Connacht, and if they win that the AI series also. Viking66 (Wexford) - Posts: 17341 - 27/10/2025 12:39:05 2641826Link 0
The Roscommon winner will come up against Ballina Stephenites. Ballina will be looking for redemption after losing out to Coolera-Strandhill after penalties in last year's semi final. Pádraig Pearses looking for similar redemption though after last year's Connacht final. legendzxix (Kerry) - Posts: 9231 - 27/10/2025 13:21:23 2641832Link 0
Ballina are also a good team. Was up there in September, big interest in Football up there, I was a little surprised tbh, our urban centres wouldnt be as GAA minded in general. Viking66 (Wexford) - Posts: 17341 - 27/10/2025 14:29:01 2641844Link 0
Your forgetting about another big connacht club Ballina who are in with a big shout and down as 3rd favourites to win the All Ireland ....! S1234 (Mayo) - Posts: 422 - 27/10/2025 14:46:14 2641846Link 0
Ballyboden, Dingle, Kilcoo and Moycullen seem to be the current favourites. Ballina are 3rd favourites in Connacht, sandwiched between Roscommon drawn finalists St Brigid's and Pádraig Pearses. legendzxix (Kerry) - Posts: 9231 - 27/10/2025 15:21:53 2641851Link 0
Think you might be getting a bit confused there. Ballina aren't near 3rd favourites for the All-Ireland at the moment. These are the odds on Paddy Power currently: All Ireland Senior Club Football Championship 2025 Ballyboden St Endas 3/1 Daingean 5/1 Kilcoo 8/1 Maigh Cuilinn 8/1 St Finbarrs 11/1 St Brigids 12/1 The Downs 13/1 Scotstown 16/1 Newbridge 17/1 Loughmacrory 22/1 Athy 22/1 Ballina 22/1 Portarlington 22/1 Tullamore 25/1 Naomh Conaill 33/1 Summerhill 40/1 Padraig Pearses 40/1 Eire Og Ennis 40/1 Even in Connacht Brigid's and Maigh Cuilinn are favoured more strongly. Both have won Connacht in recent years and Brigid's were minutes away from an All-Ireland. Mayo clubs have had a poor record in Connacht over the last decade. No provincial title since 2015. The last time Maigh Cuilinn won Galway, they hammered Westport. They're a strong, well balanced team. Pearse's and Brigid's have been a much tougher proposition for the Galway winners in recent years, and have very good records. Ballina are a seasoned team now with a few years of provincial experience, so I'd expect them to be better this year. WanPintWin (Galway) - Posts: 2611 - 27/10/2025 16:05:56 2641863Link 0
Daingean @5/1. Excellent value. I really don't think Boden will even win Leinster. Patrick Pearses @40/1 is my other interest. BarneyGrant (Dublin) - Posts: 3780 - 27/10/2025 16:17:48 2641869Link 1
Kilcoo 8/1 are the worst value on the board. Loughmacrory should be in the 50/1 bracket. Saynothing (Tyrone) - Posts: 2451 - 27/10/2025 16:45:18 2641881Link 0
If Ballyboden are to be stopped in their tracks in Leinster; The Downs, Athy and Portarlington are the leading favourites. 8 of the last 10 winners have come from Dublin. 5 of the last 5 are from Dublin. Matches the 2012 to 2016 record. legendzxix (Kerry) - Posts: 9231 - 27/10/2025 17:42:14 2641887Link 0
Portarlington gave Crokes a bit of a scare with a mad wind a few years ago and are an experienced outfit at this stage. I just don't think Boden fit the model. BarneyGrant (Dublin) - Posts: 3780 - 27/10/2025 17:51:42 2641891Link 0

Fantastic scenes in Loughmacrory last night when the Armagh champions for the first time Madden arrived in Loughmacrory to celebrate alongside the Tyrone champions for the first time. All linked by the Grimly brothers who were part of each team. Armagh and Tyrone celebrating together. Saynothing (Tyrone) - Posts: 2451 - 29/10/2025 17:50:22 2642171Link 4

It was fantastic to see the scenes between the Tyrone and Armagh champions. Summed up our great organisation. It would be difficult to explain those scenes to an outsider. I suppose they'd consider us mad Irish folk, and in a way they'd be right! :D Lockjaw (Donegal) - Posts: 10101 - 30/10/2025 09:14:21 2642209Link 1 |
Relying on legacy broadcasters like RTE who are cash strapped as it is and need to chase ratings probably isnt the best strategy going forward. Most people view sport as elite mass entertainment so go chasing the Premier Leagues of this world and dont care about local games so hard to see RTE being interested. TG4 maybe. The future is streaming and podcasting to get your previews, reviews and live coverage while social media then gives us those celebration insights we normally wouldnt see. The club game i think has found its niche with Clubber and various YT channels I've seen cropping up like An Cluiche, Gaelic Games Fan TV etc. All those lads doing their bit online. trimmer (Meath) - Posts: 563 - 30/10/2025 10:20:04 2642216Link 0
Ballina will do well to win Connacht never mind an all Ireland. While Mayo clubs have won club all Ireland titles at junior and intermediate in recent times, our senior sides have been a disaster not winning a Connacht title in a decade. yew_tree (Mayo) - Posts: 11808 - 30/10/2025 11:00:29 2642220Link 0
| Yeah you're probably right actually. TV in general has gone that way. There are some amount of podcasts on the go. I remember I must have listened to about 20 different podcasts ahead of the All Ireland between Donegal and Kerry. I hardly ever watch "regular TV" now, apart from live sport. You'd have to wonder if the license fee is worth it? A vast number of people are streaming illegally too, but that's another story. | RTE would rather tell us all about British soccer matches and not forgetting the rugby of course. Tirchonaill1 (Donegal) - Posts: 3531 - 30/10/2025 13:03:08 2642242Link 2 |
