Replying To Viking66:  "Agree that we are in general too nice. Some of that is due to the way our refs ref the games too. Bringing ingredients the young lads up to tournaments in Tipp and Kilkenny last year really opened our eyes to this, and reinforced something Ive been saying for years.
As regards our u14s we have had 2 good u14 teams in a row, hopefully this years will be a 3rd good team. We werent hectic before that at u14. We were OK, competitive, but didnt reach finals like we did the last 2 years. The current minor team were decent at u14 for example.
It would be great to get a group like Offaly did that wins all the way up, but thats hard to get. Every county is hoping to get that. And it doesn't always work out at minor anyway. The last group that were a bit like that from u14-u16 were Tipps minors of last year, and they never made it out of the Munster Minor Round Robin and lost all their games."
Everyone in Wexford GAA is too nice. I'm not encouraging dirty play or anything but I know people involved in Dublin underage teams always say to hit Wexford, annoy them, lay down a marker, they don't like it.
I think this is true, Wexford need to develope more kill or be killed attitude. This is a competitive arena and if you don't like being hit or hitting, maybe GAA is not for you. Some parents are the worst in this regard.
I am not advocating off the ball hitting, dangerous play, etc but nice guys finish last. If you are giving a free, as storeytash says make the opponent feel it don't just pull his jersey and let them get the point from the free.

It was behind closed doors and the venue was changed a couple of times. I will likely get some info on it tomorrow.

If Wexford start well and take care of Kildare next weekend then who knows what you can do. Lose it though and I think the negativity will take over, the heads will be down, and then the alarm bells will be ringing.
Big, big game.

There's a reason for all that. If you get info keep it to yourself Doyler.

3 good games to start with in Leinster the 1st weekend in fairness.
And hopefully we win our 1st 2 games, as it would give us a little wiggle room in our last 3.

Look the reality is i don't see us losing against Kildare, I honestly dont and thats no disrespect to Kildare.

It shouldn't form even part of our mindset, go up, give them the respect they deserve but we are better than them, do the job, push on to the next day.

Thats how Galway, Kilkenny and Dublin will approach it and thats what we should do also.

100% tearitom, go up there with a job to do and do it. Wexford for too long talk up inferior teams, go up and get the job done.

Agreed. We need to bury them with goals as early as possible. Break their spirits and that of their supporters.

Charlie Mooney, Darragh Ryan, and Ryan Doran in for Joshua Roche, Conor Fanning, and Podge Doyle

Doyle unlucky IMO, thought he was one of our better players last week

That half-back-line must be close to being the biggest ever half-back-line we have ever had at U20/U21

Was just thinking about this today (and some of these things we may already be doing) but I think we could do with doing the following....

U10/U11/U12 schools of hurling in November/December/January/February: One session a week indoors in each district with 3-5 of the best players at each age group from each club in the district

U14/U15/U16 district games in November/December/January/February: Would serve as de facto county trials. Could maybe expand it to 6 teams rather than 4 districts (Each play each other twice and then 1st play 2nd, 3rd play 4th, and 5th play 6th on the last day so 11 games in all, one every Saturday). Each club sends between 3 and 5 of their best players at each age group

League and Championship at U14, U16, and U18: Think we might already have a league for Minors? Makes sense IMO to have a league from late February onwards where County Minors don't play (Could allow 13-a-side depending on numbers) And have semi-finals and finals in June) and to then start the Championship proper in late June when the Leaving Cert and Junior Cert are over and also when the All-Ireland Minor Hurling Championship is over. I know some complain about playing finals late in the year (And similar complaints are made about U21) but the upshot is that lads train deeper into the year so they end up hurling more than ever

Suppose the point is that we fall behind other counties because we don't quite have the same hurling culture as them so outside of the training pitch, they're getting more hurling work done. If we expand our season, we might be able to make up for the fact our lads don't do as much hurling as them away from the training pitch.

Also, to play more months in the year, there's going to be a greater need for artificial pitches and floodlights (And integration will also put more pressure on pitches). Building these artificial surfaces won't necessarily make lads hurl any better but it will make it easier to train during the winter months (Some clubs may argue they don't really have the facilities and the pitches at the moment to facilitate winter hurling)

It probably is the biggest. Agree about Doyle.
