Bit of a joke bringing in outside refs to ref one sided hurling games … I know we scare on refs but only a few game on today and st least 2 outside refs in… wouldn't mind but before a ball was picked the results where know

outside refs the way to go for the most part i think, saw 2 on Saturday in Navan and 1 Sunday in batterstown, all 3 good performances, no bull and better hurling as a result, still not quality games but better than the normal free fests we see

Yeah that would make a lot of sense. Bring in these lads for championship where are they for the leagues. It's hard enough to get referees but if we snub them when championship comes along then we'll get nobody to referee. If these imports are so good then why are they not referring in their own county

Outside refs are the way to go so long as we're not getting lads on the courses. Meath one was cancelled due a lack of interest.

We've lads in their mid 60s-70s reffing championship games now and no player wants that. As for 'why aren't they reffing in their own county', well the Louth hurling is done so why wouldn't they use them.

On the pitches:

SHC A as a few predicted coming down to Longwood and CNG to avoid bottom, play each other next round
SHC B - Dunderry have thrown a real potential spanner in the works by beating Kilmessan, means there's acutlaly a bit of jeopardy going into round 4.

IHC A we have one team with a score difference of minus 100 after three games, nuff said. Dunboyne and Rathmolyon fighting for top in next ruond.
IHC B went to two of the three games. Pats full value for their draw with Boardsmill and could even have won it, B'Mill looked lost without Danny Dixon pulling the strings. Kildalkey have really fallen from the peak, so far off Kilskyre and now bottom of the group. Pats could really sniff another upset. Drumree against Kilskyre should decide who gets top.

100% outside refs are the way to go, most of the guys that have come in are a breath of fresh air. As a player who is training since January all you want is fairness and common sense and that's what the outside guys give.

Regarding the games i was at a few of the senior games over the weekend. Kildalkey and Ratoath haven't started their championships yet, they meet in the next round and i expect Ratoath to just have too much but don't think either team will mind too much if they don't win.
Trim are a bit all over the place at the minute but will improve and Kilmessan were beaten by inhouse fighting and maybe a bit of arrogance, fair play to Dunderry, long time since they beat Kilmessan in championship.
Na Fianna are not too bad and will cause a few problems here and there, expect a quarter final place for them. Same goes for Kiltale who are very much improved.
The rest are senior B grade and that should be a good competitive competition. Great to see those clubs capable of winning a trophy. Blackhall are dark horses IMO and possibly Killyon.
Relegation battle this year will also be close, Athboy are really struggling and it is hard to see which team in the grade they will beat especially with one eye on the football.

Intermediate will be interesting this year. Dunboyne and Rathmolyn will have aspirations of winning it out this year but Rathmolyn have aspiration's every year and we see how that has gone for them.
Ashbourne are tipping away nicely and should go far, Drumree even after loosing to Ashbourne should get their act together and make semi finals and Kells seem to be improved this year.
Kilskyre have 3-4 good players but outside of that they are weak in a lot of areas, they struggled to put away Kildalkeys second team who have almost changed their whole 15 players in 2 years. Fair play to Kildalkey, Trim and Kilmessan who are able to field second teams at intermediate level and Jnr as well for some of them. Kildalkey put in a huge effort in 2023 at intermediate level and won it out with their second team, not too many of the first teams in the grade can claim that.
Boardsmill when they have all available could cause a few head aces but i expect them to compete in and win the intermediate B.
Delighted to see Pats get a result the last day and it should be a close game between themselves and Kildalkey, hard one to call but maybe Kildalkey will have more hurlers on the day.
Relegation will be between Pats unfortunately and one of the second teams, Trim seem to really be struggling and it might be a step too far for them.

Looking forward to the knockout stages for some interesting games. Best of luck to all.
