Replying To countyman2022:  "Apparently no championship the weekend of Electric Picnic. Lads after going by the masterplan and booking something the weekend there was no hurling now may have hurling on. Some county board we have"
Oh boo hoo!
Why should electric picnic get the no matches treatment ahead of every other item that is on through out the summer

Pity we can't get a few Rackards!

There hasnt been any hurling championship for the electric picnic weekend at any stage from my memory, always coincided with a football week unless now there's no championship matches at all which would be a joke imho.

Replying To Wexfordgaa:  "Too right let lads go for a weekend. What's the problem with that. Was talking to lads here in Dublin some came back for championship last year but weren't right or could not enjoy the weekend couldn't perform for their club young lads need to have a life too."
The problem is they gave a masterplan and lads have went by it. And now they have changed it after people have made plans around it. We must be only county in Ireland that has scheduled no matches on two different weekends in the same month for music festivals. No wonder hurling is where it is here, its very far down the priority list.

Not the case AFAIK

Is there another event that as many players go to? Very unlikely.

Since when are the Lamberts 'legacy players'? And talking about a 12 year old?

Agree with most of that lad. Sooner the Fleadh moves on to somewhere else the better. Complete rip off, especially if you have children. And organisers using soft people to do all the work for them for nothing. Traffic everywhere. It's nothing like it was 30 years ago when it was a festival of music. Now it's just another commercial event, all about the money.
EP used to be very good too, kind of grew out of the type of parties I used to go to in the 90s. Now like the Fleadh its just completely over commercialised. Unfortunately greed is a human characteristic, and where the unscrupulous see a crowd they see a profit.

Its a valid thing Viking but the thing is I bet you and I were at Feile (not the hurling version) in Thurles getting ripped off and did not notice it! Concert promoters were just as unscrupulous back then, that it was held in Thurles (and Michael Lowry was mayor of Thurles at the time) possibly tells its own story!
I would love to be of the EP going age and to be fair to the players, etc its a good call by the County Board to give this weekend blank so all the players aren't being put in the "well how much do you love your club" predicament.

You are never too old for EP. Great gig to bring kids to once they aren't teenagers. It's just not as good as it used to be.

Ah God another commercial event :-D

Seriously though that's on a Thursday so would only affect u14 fixtures, although they will be after the Shows over. There is the Ploughing Championship also.

Barry was unlucky with injuries. Bob won a Leinster u21 I think, he never won a Minor, u21, Junior, Intermediate or Senior AI in hurling.

Barry was unlucky but I would still say he had a decent career. 2 Leinster 21s, two all Ireland finals and a Leinster senior. Also played in 2 senior aisf

I was looking that up about his da yesterday and couldn't find it but Marty Morrissey said it during 04 Leinster semi final against Kilkenny.

What an abysmally one sided game to start the championship. Harriers were woeful, 12 points scored. The offering from clubber left a lot to be desired, cameraman forgetting to follow the ball, no upgrade from the lads on Wexford Gaa tv anyway. Well hopefully it improves from here.
