Meath Vs Kerry

Replying To MeathAbroad:  "Hard to know what to expect this weekend. Every other match this year we've known that our best well leave us there or there abouts. But we could play very well and Kerry could still have too much for us.
Reasons for optimism: Tullamore is close to home, we should travel more than Kerry. There have been spells in every match this championship where are forwards are unplayable. It's a free crack and we can treat this like our most important match, Kerry will have one eye on knockouts. The new rules have created more chance of upsets. Kerry have had a soft run so far. And they're likely missing key players.
Reasons for pessimism: Kerry are a level above anyone we've played this year. Our biggest weakness this year has been giving soft goals and Kerry have arguably the biggest goal threat in the competition. We can't afford many injuries and sounds like Flynn is out. Kerry will be beginning to peak ahead of knockouts.
If we get match up on Clifford right, attack midfield and click in attack we can cause them problems. There'll be at least one more seismic upset in this year's championship, why not this?"
Another reason for optimism. Kerry journalists saying Paudie Clifford won't play this weekend due to injury and David Clifford is doubtful. The experienced Paul Geaney to sit the game out also as is their first choice midfield pairing in Barry Dan O'Sullivan,Diarmuid O'Connor.

Where are you seeing David Clifford is doubtful? Seems like Paudie is the only Clifford out. Paul Geaney, Diarmuid O'Connor and Barry Dan O'Sullivan out too per the Kerryman.

Kerry 5 changes with all who were mentioned to be doubtful through injury not included. Brian O Beaglaoich missing also a surprise. 5 changes is still quite alot even if its still a formidable team.
Let's see what Meath team lines out but certainly don't think it'll be 5 changes.

Kerry journalist said it, he's named to start but remains to be seen will he started. All 5 other first choice players not part of the Kerry 26 this weekend.

I'm hearing we will have a few forced changes too and to a few big players. Don't pay any heed to the team released later would be my advice.

That sounds a little worrying. Any more detail? Hopefully precautionary rather than anything long term.

Is Costello the long term or the precautionary? Bad news either way for this weekend, he's a major loss. Can only see us struggling without him. Despite the Kerry injuries their team still looks strong. Likes of Killian Spillane coming in is not exactly weakening the team. He'll be desperate to keep the jersey and on his day he is top class.

Hopefully Costello's injury is not serious. And same for Conlan if that rumour is true. Best of luck to the lads today. What a horrible day for football. The bad weather might take the sting out of Kerry's forwards. Travelling with optimism that we can at least be competitive today. Up Meath!

Dreamland.

9 pt. win. Left goals and points out there. Clifford will
want his Rafferty pyjamas.

What a game, what a year, what a team.. and more to come.

Up the Royals!

Well done to team and management. Got Father Day tickets for CP to watch Leinster win, so a great day all round. Hard to belive we have beaten Dublin and Kerry in same year.

Unreal stuff. Apart from Armagh in 2002 has any other team ever beaten both Kerry and Dublin in the same championship? Maybe Cork at some point, trying to think. Incredible that we've done that a still won't be considered an All Ireland contender yet!

Best meath performance since ironically enough against Kerry in the 2001 semi final? I thought this was a much more complete performance than the dublin game in portlaoise. When it comes to this meath team there is often too much talk about Morris and Costello. They are excellent individual players but our best performances this year have wither been without them or with them being reasonably quiet. 15 points between Duke, Kinsella and Frayne today, a 21 and two 22 year olds. Menton dominated midfield again and what a great goal he scored. Ciaran Caulfield is a freak, his fitness levels are a joke. Why would they fear any team now, roll on croker in 2 weeks.
