Armagh Now All Ireland Favourites

(Oldest Posts First)

Forget whatever the bookies say when they price it up later today, Armagh now the team to beat.

They have four weeks to prepare for a quarter final against one of the lower ranked losers from prelims. No other team has any luxury, not even Kerry who could get caught by Meath. They cannot be paired with a team from group 4 again or Donegal so worst case scenario would be Mayo (outside chance Tyrone)

They also won't be able to draw them in semi final unless they all get there so expect Kerry or Monaghan in semi final.

They have the panel, the confidence, the perfect gaps between games and sure they haven't lost in normal time since 2022.

Armagh top of the pecking order now.

Yourselves, Kerry & Armagh. One of them for sure, little or nothing in it.

A Donegal man doing a really bad impersonation of a Kerryman circa 70's/80s! What's the Donegal equivalent of Yerra!?

Dublin handed the win to Armagh today on a plate!

You'll have to try harder than that.

4 or five teams could win it and defently Armagh 1 of them , but the Dubs were shocking today and still only lost by 5

Absolutely, 17 Dub wides tells its own story... with lots of those very scorable. That being said I think it's Donegal's for the taking but it's wide open IMO.

Yeah Dublin were cat but read above comment.

I didn't say Armagh would win, I just said they are in the driving seat. Facts!

I'd have Kerry still as favs as they are so lightly raced, Donegal have played a lot of intense football, we have been going since the prelim round in Ulster, Armagh prob 2nd favs in my book, after that there's prob 4 or so teams in with a chance, with the injuries we have and the schedule we've been through and what's still to come, it's hard to see us winning Sam this year but there is still hope if we get a few key men back and get a good draw in the prelim quarter final, assuming we get that far.

"Ach, I dunno, we got over the line against Cavan, and sure we'll try to give Mayo a rattle the next day and if we win we win and we'll be delighted to make it into the next round" :D

They still lost, at home. Saying they were shocking isn't a sign of confidence in them at this stage. Armagh were good but not great on Sunday either. Rian O'Neill back is a big boost for them. If Con isn't back and in good form it's hard to see Dublin as contenders. Kerry won't be tested until quarter final, won't have a second chance if they lose at that stage. Michael Murphy's big game game temperament will get Donegal through the big games. Galway and Tyrone could still bounce back.

Would rank it Armagh, Donegal, Kerry and Dublin at this stage but every week one result is casting some teams as contenders and others as no hopers. Which is great because it's so unpredictable. But we'll not really know until the quarter finals.

You might win it if Clifford gets every call from the ref as per usual. You won't win sam it's going back to Amargh .

Not at all. Just stating Armagh in drivers seat right now. If Armagh make another final, Donegal would probably be the last team they'd wanna face but our path right now makes it difficult and we are going to need a splash of luck with the draw and injuries.

Kerry are liable to get caught in quarter final or will face Armagh most likely in semi final. I don't seem them getting through both the banana skin or Armagh.

Armagh may not go back to back but they deserve to be considered the team to beat.
